im thinking about booking a 7-Day Western Mediterranean from Barcelona on the Epic. Can i get some advice on what to expect on ship and what to do at these ports. I love Moet and wine and Vodka. Also like a little sight seeing too. Should I fly in Barcelona a few days early tio hang out and party and shop, are things close by??

thanks all!!

The Epic is great--I would love to sail on her in a less port intensive cruise! We departed on this cruse out of Rome, but the one day we had in Barcelona was wonderful. Lots to see and do. I would definitely plan to spend a couple days there. We used Rome in Limo for all our Italian excursions--highly recommend them!

We are doing this cruise on Epic in August. We are flying into Barcelona one day early, (can't get there earlier or stay longer due to work schedules) and plan on doing a hop on-hop off bus to get to see as much as we can. We are doing a private tour in Livorno/Florence, and NCL tours in Rome, Naples and Cannes. Many people do private tours in all those ports. If you go to the ports of call board and look under "Europe" - then Italy, France, Spain, there are tons of threads on who used what tour group, what to do, etc. Research, research, research! If you do take a Med cruise, go to the roll call board and sign up under your cruise date. You can also tour-share with others on your roll call, which will help with excursion costs!

I did this cruise in 2015 and have just signed up to do it again because there were so many options of things to see in each port. I would definitely advise getting to Barcelona with a couple of extra days to see around it - and do book tickets to Sagrada Familia in advance because you won't get them on the day.

Barcelona is amazing and there are great day trips you can take too. We stay at Hotel 1889 - great location on Las Ramblas and great hotel with a spa with a water circuit plus steam room and dry sauna in the basement - free for all guests to use and on the roof a pool and a great tapas bar.

We sail on July 2nd and plan on a couple of days in Barcelona. we went ahead and booked the NCL hotel just for ease and we are unfamiliar with the layout of Barcelona. The hotel reservation also includes shuttle to pier. As already stated join your roll call. Sometimes there are others who may go ahead and book private tour with you. We booked through ItalyTours.Eu for the Italy ports and Barcelona Day Tours for one of our days in Barcelona. Good advie is already given on research. We booked last year and I finally narrowed down what we plan to do in each port. Have a great time!

I love the Epic, but they have scaled back their wine offerings to below average with the open bar package. The only champagne by the glass I have seen is Veuve and it is about $22/glass. The only Moet I have seen this past year is Dom by the bottle (about $200)

If you do sail NCL, I recommend carrying on wine/champagne, and paying the 15/bottle fee.

I did this back in 2014 and you can see my review by expanding my signature below. i highly suggest you head over to the Ports of Call Boards and check out posting for your ports. I got so much great and up to date information from them when I was preparing for my cruise.

I also really enjoy Rick Steves videos and guides for Italy and Barcelona. I stayed before in Barcelona and highly recommend it!
