kgoodman16 Posted April 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2017 My wife and I are are sailing from Hong Kong to Singapore this winter. How many days should we allow for pre / post cruise sightseeing in each city. It will be the first visit to each city for both of us. What were your top things to see or do. Thanks Ken
Trend Posted April 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2017 IMO 2 full days in Singapore will do as it is beautiful and easy to get around. Our favourite was the zoo as it is different than other zoos. Enjoyed the view from the Ferris wheel great food but expensive to shop. Went through the Chinese and Arab areas as markets are interesting. Hong Kong is very exciting views from Victoria Peak Great food with restaurants at various prices , lots of different markets great shopping at all prices. The views from high rise hotels and the ferry. Shopping and night time light shows nothing stops in Kowloon
Ashland Posted April 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2017 In Singapore you must try Lau Pa Sat it's a nightime BBQ (starts at 6:00pm) street food...best Satay ever...we went two nights pre-cruise. Just google Lau Pa Sat to see what you shouldn't miss. Easy to get there on the MRT or taxi. We stayed at the Royal Plaza on Scotts Road.
Bpos Posted April 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2017 Allow at least three days in each location - plenty to see and do without rushing around, particularly if you have never been there before and perhaps will not come back that way again. loeb Posted April 26, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2017 While in Hong Kong, you might take a trip to Macau to see old Portuguese settlement and the Las Vegas style casinos. It's about a 45 minute ferry ride on high speed boats from Hong Kong - this trip would take up most of one day. In both Hong Kong and Singapore we used the HOP On / Off bus to see the sites. Both cities have great food and many interesting sites to see. Even the airport in Singapore is a place to explore and see many interesting things -

Three days is a bare minimum. We spent five days in Singapore prior to a cruise and were busy every day. As for Hong Kong, there is a lot to do and you could spend a week there. hylasgirl Posted May 4, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2017 I'm happy to read that I haven't reserved too much time in either. I'm doing 3 full days in Singapore and 4 in Hong Kong.
