Les...are you saying then that if one turns up in less than formal dress at the two restaurants 'requiring' formal attire you will not be turned away? Surely this now becomes more confusing for those yet to sail on the Muse....and how can you be so sure of this.

Are you suggesting you'd get turned away? I've read enough reviews that state people were in Atlantide in informal wear. Just like they are in the MDR in formal nights on other SS ships.

The 'true' Cunard White Star Class service finished when the beautiful and iconic Queen Elizabeth 2 was dumped in Dubai with the ship.

The current fleet have been 'Carnivalised'...you pay for the grills...and boy do you pay....for little more than Grill dining and a private lounge....but the one difference is that all guests are dressed the same each evening in accordance with the daily published dress code....which actually is adhered to after 6pm.

Would love to hear about your Cunard vs Silversea experiences....to me it's as different as chalk is to cheese.

Really looking forward to your views of the Muse and wish you a very happy voyage on her......because despite all the negatives she is a lovely ship.

Who mentioned dress codes? I was talking about levels of service dependant of your suite. At least that's what I was referring to. Generally speaking all guests on SS are treated equally. And no I'm not naive enough to believe some are more equal than others but generally it's true and all areas of ships open to all guests.

Have a wonderful voyage on The Muse Les.....my sincere apologies but l really don't wish to become embroiled with our opposing views....it's not what this board is all about and personal opinions differ so very much but always in a friendly manner and with true facts.

Sophia 😊

I am confused:confused: about the 120 day discussion above. On the 120th day from sailing I made reservations for all 12 nights of our cruise. They are listed on my activities with 2 nights waitlisted. We did not have to wait for 120 days from each night.

Good if they've changed things. On mine I didn't attempt to book anything that far out but had noticed in monaco 2 restaurants were removed from being bookable. When the cruise was within 120 days, I did try to book something for just monaco and got the message about not being bookable until 120 days. Hence my answer. Meow can verify in a couple of days what she finds. Hopefully it is as you've said as it. I can actually think of a reason that may have happened for my booking.

Interesting that 2 are wait listed on 120 days? Useful info. If the case its the first time I've heard that said. Were they for La Dame by any chance?

I've just re looked in mine. It seems it's not only monaco that restaurants are not bookable. Though that could be all the wait list places are already taken. (I refer to la Dame for the final 2 nights and last night for kaiseki.)

Kaiseki was waitlisted on the third night and La Dame was waitlisted on the seventh night. They were both available on other nights. Of course these are the smallest restaurants on board.

Ok as expected and as per my own. It's not uncommon for the smaller up charge restaurants to be fully booked on any of the SS ships . I've not booked either of them.

Dear Meow!

The dining option of "My Silversea" (my.silversea.com) for Silver Muse Voyage 6719 (Montreal to Fort Lauderdale) just opened for booking/table reservations about 3 hours ago (today is 31st May 2017). I was wondering how you could make any table reservations a few days ago (your post was on the 29th May) on the same voyage whereas I couldn't do that, but later I read that you were not successful to secure any of them. I also noticed that the opening coincided with New York time 00:00 for 120 days prior to ship embarkment since I live +12 hours ahead of NYC local time. You can start re-booking your dinner options at my.silversea.com now and I am sure this time it will work for you.

Yes, you can book all your 14 nights altogether at one go. You don't have to log in to book everyday for each night in the next 14 days :)

Try again in a couple of days and your first night will become bookable and your booking recorded. The last night of your cruise won't be bookable until another 16 days I'm afraid until each night is inside the 120 days booking restriction.

Correct.

You will be able to book the first day on 120 days and the second day of the cruise the day after.

The above is NOT true. We now can book all 13 dinners (if we so wish) for our voyage at once. We just reserved seven of them, leaving the rest for later decisions.

Great glad you got it sorted. As I'd already replied above this, my own for the next cruise I was unable to. Only reporting what I'd found and it sounds like it's been amended which I agree it's how it should be.

Out of curiosity, did your agent ever get to the bottom of how you were able to book restaurants a week ago before 120 days and why they disappeared?

That was a misunderstanding. My previous "bookings", unlike the present ones, were not registered,

OK gotcha. I thought it probably was the case, but good to clear it up. Glad you got it sorted. I think I've got to the bottom of why my mid cruise booking waited to 120 days before being allowed to do so - though I did think it was the case previously too, but likely wasn't.

My husband and I will be on the Montreal-Ft Lauderdale sailing. May 31st was the 120 day magic number and I went on line to book our dining reservations. I was able to book all 13 nights at my choice of restaurants. However, the actual time of any of the reservations is not really accomplished. One must pick a preferred time slot. ie: early(7 to 8 ), or late(8 to 9). I wanted reservations at 8P.M. According to my reservation printout, we are "confirmed" for each reservation in the 7 PM to 8 PM time slot, but will not know when our actual times are until we get aboard and check with the Reservation officier. How is this a "confirmed reservation"? I do not have much faith in this new dining system. The dress code for dining is also bizarre. I guess time will tell.

Dear BettyDol,

The three choices of preferred dining time slots for Silver Muse are : 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (early), 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM (regular) and 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM (late). It is stated there that it is the "preferred time of arrival at the restaurant". So I guess if you intend to be seated in the restaurant at 8:00 PM, you better edit/change your reservation time to "regular time" (8:00 PM-9:00 PM) just to play safe, in case something holds you up and you can't make it to the restaurant by 8:00 PM. If you arrive earlier than 8:00 PM, it is still okay for you to wait a while & have a drink first at the restaurant bar (I read that Atlantides now has a bar) before your table is ready for you :)

Yes, with so much "speculation" about the new rules on Muse, things will become clear once we are on the ship and talk to the maitre 'd !

Thank you KiongKiong for helping to clear up that reservation/time slot question. I must be a bit slow because I do not understand how this "time slot, arrival time " system is clearer or more efficient than just letting one ask for a specific time. Do we show up at 7:00 and say, "we will be back at 8:00 to eat? I guess it will be clearer once we are on board and actually arrive at the venue for our reservation. We have sailed with SilverSea ten times and have never been disappointed. Changes are somewhat unsettling, but I am sure all will work out. Really looking forward to the Autumn sights on this Montreal to Ft. Lauderdale cruise as we are from Southern California and do not have the Fall foliage. Besides, the unlimited free laundry will make up for the reservation confusions!:ship:<3

I've just had a rather sobering conversation this evening.... makes Muse cruises a bit irrelevant on the scale of things.

On Friday evening after work, I went with a group of 10 friends from work for a rather long leaving drink to Borough Market. We got in the George pub in Borough High street at 3pm, then on to the Mango curry house off southwark street then later to another pub which I wasnt sure the name or where exactly the pub was. (I did say it was a long leaving drink! lol)

My boss phoned me an hour ago to tell me my office is closed tomorrow (I work at London Bridge) and I mentioned we'd had a lucky escape.... it was then I leaned just how lucky. At 9.20 until 10.20 and standing outside, we were at the wheatsheaf pub in Stoney Street..... exactly 24 hours later, they were banging on the windows of that same pub at 10.05 and a couple of minutes later, shot dead.

My jaw dropped. I obviously knew we were around the area, but no idea we were at ground zero. We werent at the pub for long - but exactly 24 hours later - and Muse cruise might not be on the menu!

Feel very lucky!

View from my desk window of London Bridge ... with a few busses on it!!

Got the nod to go to LB to work in the end this morning. Bit eerie.. lots of people around but definitely not as many as normal. St Thomas street and beyond to borough market all closed off. Tooley street where my office is located is open but few cars. The top of tooley is blocked going to Borough Market but London Bridge is back open. I've never seen it so quiet. Compare the two photos!!

Betty, it is confusing....on the inaugural for Atlantide our slot was 8-9.......on one evening we were seated just after eight and on the other evening we were still waiting for a table at eight thirty! This of course was a tester cruise really so understandable to a ' certain' degree....with so many complaints l would expect that by now things have improved. I wouldn't worry too much but most certainly have a word with the MD shortly after you board to express your preferences....the phrase ' putting your foot down with a very firm hand' springs to mind.

Sophia ☺️

Just read that an explosion and hostage attack just happened today in Melbourne, Australia :(

Traveling is so worrying nowadays for everyone. However, I still think it is still a lot SAFER to sleep on a cruise ship than staying at a local downtown hotel of a city! The security on a cruise ship is definitely better than any hotel as there is stricter security check. Anyone has thoughts on this ? topic. It is not that easy for anyone to embark a docked cruise ship ...... unless that "dangerous" person is also a cruise passenger! :p</p><br>

I'd not heard of this - but was aware of the news of mass murder in Orlando today from a disgruntled employee. (I almost added "luckily" then like it would make it any less distressing - but you know what I mean!)

It certainly is a huge concern - especially when these people have no fear of dying because theyve been told about rewards. I'd think it relatively easy to get things onboard - though probably best not to say that! And the consequences rather huge!

Its not just travel though. The events at Borough Market are on my doorstep... and being at the pub one of them was shot and on the pavement I'd been standing on nigh 24 hours to the minute ago when that happened leaves a strange numb feeling. But life goes on - and we all have a part in being strong and not let these people destroy us.

les37b,

Very happy to hear you were at the wrong place at the right time and that you escaped tragedy. You are correct in saying that these things put our concerns over things like restaurants on a cruise ship in perspective.

Indeed it does.

We just observed a minutes silence nationally a few minutes ago. Things are still not back to normal yet. Borough Market (a 90 second walk from my building) still has no access and road traffic on London Bridge has remained near zero.

I saw the mayors speech yesterday to the cameras at 1 (I was out getting some lunch), and could clearly see myself on camera when I saw on TV last night.

Meanwhile the view shows things are getting back to normal as I watched the yellow buoy dropped off by the Belfast ready for Fridays Silver Cloud arrival followed by the Wind on Sunday 2 hours after the cloud leaves.

Les37b just as well the tree has had a trim otherwise your view would be spoiled. Great shot!

What makes you think it wasn't me? Lol

They trimmed it a short while ago. Makes a huge difference.

I was hoping to be allowed onto the roof of the building on the 8th floor to get some really great shots but alas they won't allow it.
