Colo Cruiser Posted September 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Friend said Princess no longer allows smoking anywhere on the ship. Is this true? Friend likes a cigar once in a while Not true. Smoking is still permitted in designated areas onboard. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/products/entertainment/churchills.html Depending on the ship........ ENJOY PREMIUM CIGARS IN AN INTIMATE SETTING Smoking a cigar doesn’t have to be a reminder of another era — at Churchill’s you can puff on your favorite stogie among like-minded aficionados. Churchill’s is a hidden gem where the cozy, pub-like atmosphere invites cigar and cigarette smokers to sit down with a refreshing drink, their favorite smoke and enjoy the evening. Located near the casino, the comfortable lounge is decked out with humidors and high quality cigars for sale.
skynight Posted September 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Every Princess ship I have been on allows cigar and pipe smoking in the cigar lounge. Cigar and pipe smoking is limited to this area only. There are limited cigarette smoking locations in other parts of the ships. No smoking of any kind in cabins or on balconies. satxdiver Posted September 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2017 The cigar bar, an enclosed area that tends to be near the theater, is open for cigar and pipe smokers as well as cigarette. It has several names with Churchill being one of them so check your deck plans. Interesting comment I have read on here is that some have said it was "too smokey"! I have never been in any of these venues so I don't really know.
ChiefSealthCruz Posted September 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2017 I suppose a non-smoker would call it too smokey, but it was always a lot better than any tavern that I have ever been to.
IECalCruiser Posted September 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2017 I believe it was cigar smokers complaining about the large number of cigarette smokers and the smoke from the cigarettes impacting the enjoyment of the cigar smokers. Thrak Posted September 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2017 I believe it was cigar smokers complaining about the large number of cigarette smokers and the smoke from the cigarettes impacting the enjoyment of the cigar smokers. Sent from my iPad using Forums Yep. That is the complaint I have heard most often. The cigar smokers complain that cigarettes can be smoked in multiple areas but, since cigars are limited to a single venue, the cigarette folks should stay out and let the cigar smokers enjoy themselves without a huge cloud of cigarette smoke. Not a lot of pipe smokers these days but they tend to have the same complaint as the cigar smokers.
flamomo Posted September 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2017 I suspect the times when cigarette smokers invade the cigar bar is when the casino has their non-smoking times, since the cigar bars tend to be near the area where the casinos are. Also, I have observed cigar smokers in the approved outdoor smoking areas for cigarette users, much to cigarette smoker's chagrin, who complain that smelly cigar smoke interferes with their enjoyment of their chosen vice. I would disagree, they are there at all times.
Eagle_and_hawk Posted September 4, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Just off the Coral in Alaska, and Churchill's looked to be at capacity almost all the time. I don't recall seeing any cigar smokers in there when walking past. Since it's located in the Atrium, there was times you could smell the smoke over in Crooner's when they were going in & out the door. With the weather being in the 40'5 & 50's, they were not standing outside in the one corner of the promenade deck as often.
