Help needed for scooter rental for Oasis October cruise

My sister-in-law needs a scooter for our cruise October 1 because of foot surgery. Should RCCL be contacted or are there companies that I can contact directly for delivery to the ship. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My dad rented a scooter for this November.. we haven't used it yet but I think they are a reputable company.. they deliver directly to your stateroom, so at the pier you will need to ask for wheelchair assistance from RCCL. And yes- contact RCCL and let them know too.

We used the same company to order a transport chair for my Mom on a cruise. They chair was in our cabin when we boarded and we just left it in the cabin at the end of the cruise. Worked out great.

If you can use a transport chair (lighter and easier to use than a wheelchair), consider buying one. The price is reasonable and may be less than renting a scooter.

Someone does have to push a transport.

Does anybody know the cost to rent a scooter?

Our cost for October is $185, through special needs at sea, for 7 days. They work with rccl. The room is also important as the door needs to be wide enough. Our TA recommended them.

Wow, I think I got ripped off. I'm going thru a TA and they ordered a scooter for my sister for next May and it was 250.00. I didn't do my research at all. I think I'll try and cancel and rebook?

. The cost is based on the following criteria

  • Costs vary between Scootaround and SpecialNeedsarSea
  • if R/T the same port or embarking/disembarking in deferent ports
  • varies per port
  • weight capacity of scooter...
  • type of scooter needed such as standard, heavy duty or bariatric based on weight of end user
  • Number of days needed
  • If delivered to pre or post cruise hotel . Also if renter will transport the scooter to the ship or if the rental company has to return to the hotel to take deliver it to the ship.
  • If insurance is purchased

My parents rented a wheelchair and had the same experience. Very convenient and worked perfectly.
