elcuchio24 Posted September 6, 2017 #51 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Well......I don't know about you' date=' but a pub in my world (and anybody else I know) is a drinking establishment and a place where adults can go to unwind. Drinks, food and such.Pubs in our area are open to families (on the restaurant side only) until 8 pm, then kids are not allowed. Nor would I want my kids in there to see adults at their best...haha.[/quote'] I once visited a place called Applebees Neighborhood Bar and Grill. Kids everywhere....in a bar! The shame....wont someone think of the children!
galimeyer Posted September 6, 2017 #52 Share Posted September 6, 2017 How late in August did you go? I'm looking at a 7-day August 26th of next year and wondering what the kid level will be. I know schools are well in session by then here but that may not be the case everywhere. Our kids will start that week (I'm in NC) but the NE will still be out as they generally start after Labor day. We were on the Freedom from August 19th - 26th and I didn't notice a lot of kids. We mainly stayed in the adult pool though as we were kid free.
lisabrokopfan1 Posted September 6, 2017 #53 Share Posted September 6, 2017 So what you're complaining about is a family using a space that is designated for use by families. Interesting. Let me ask you a question: What if these were adults? Would you expect the crew to intercede for you so you could get your turn playing the games? I would love a more child-free cruising environment, but not because I think I deserve to kick families with children out of facilities that they paid for just as much I did. Your cruise ship provides the Serenity Adult-only Retreat. That's where your expectations would be reasonable. I don't think there's an expectation for the crew to intervene. If people would just be considerate of others, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Take your turn. Have fun! Then, step back and see if anyone else wants to play. If not, then have a rematch! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Forums mobile app

I agree; it's not a matter of children versus adults, but rather just an instance of the same sort of thing we see all over the ship: Chogging, talking as you walk past stateroom doors after midnight, etc.
WaggesAZ Posted September 6, 2017 #55 Share Posted September 6, 2017 I have no dog in this hunt and I have taken cruises with and without our children. I completely understand the idea of wanting to find more adult areas when I am not on a family cruise. However, this is directly from Carnival's site and I can see why the OP Is confused: https://www.carnival.com/awaywego/cruising-fun/15-fun-onboard-activities-just-for-adults
bUU Posted September 6, 2017 #56 Share Posted September 6, 2017 I could see how people could confuse the two, but RedFrog Rum Bar is different from RedFrog Pub. On ships, like Carnival Magic, that have both, they're a number of decks away from each other. Carnival Miracle doesn't have the Rum Bar.

I know that isn't true...or isn't enforced if true. I've had kids sit next to me at the sports bar. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
imouer Posted September 6, 2017 #58 Share Posted September 6, 2017 . It's kind like going to the adult only comedy and seeing a 12 year old in there with their parents (we all know it happens). It is downright awkward. Just some compromise' date=' that's all.[/quote'] I've been a comedy clubs with the comic stop the shower until then get the F out LoL! Jeffn57 Posted September 6, 2017 #60 Share Posted September 6, 2017 What are the more adult friendly options out there? Also, OP, my wife and I don't care much for kids on cruises, so we schedule them for when kids are in school. (Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan). We have found that the number of kids on cruises is drastically reduced. Perhaps you could try that? My wife and I are the same way. We usually book in January when all the kids have gone back to school. I love my kids but they are grown and moved away. My grand kids visit but they go home when they are done with us. So leave the kids home and out of the Pub. Who wants to drink and swear and tell off color jokes with kids around...
A&Jfamily Posted September 6, 2017 #61 Share Posted September 6, 2017 For those that are unfamiliar with "the pub" it isn't just a bar; it is open to the promenade serves a small variety of Caribbean themed food for a small charge like wings and sliders. My boys are 13 and 19 and would have zero issue with them hanging out, having a bite and playing games there, with or without us. I consider myself fairly conservative as a parent (for example we waited to plan a trip to New Orleans/French quarter til my youngest was a teen) and there is nothing about this environment that dictates it should be an adult only venue. It's very distinct from the spa/serenity area for relaxation, the Casino for gambling and partying (often have music and dancing at night), late night shows (comedy) and the disco (more partying). All of these venues are clearly adult only and in confined closed spaces. They are also clearly distinguished from places like Alchemy (usually situated in plain view on promenade) and the atrium bar. These are in open areas where there is music and dancing open to all. The same is true of Red Frog Pub....which also has music. It really does lean strongly toward an open family space vs an adult only one. I agree with the poster who said if it had been adults hogging the area, what would the OP have done? After all, we have all seen adult pool chair hogs, as well as those crazy seat savers at the shows. My plan: 1) ask to take turns 2) go earlier the next night so you can hog it yourself! Sillyjilly Posted September 6, 2017 #62 Share Posted September 6, 2017 I understand that but a pub is SUPPOSED to be adult oriented' date=' is it not?I would actually have zero issue if they allowed kids until maybe 7 pm, after that, make it adult only. Allow the adults time to play. Remember, the kids also have the pool decks, the arcade, all of the kids clubs, etc as well, so the argument goes both ways.[/quote'] Completely agree. I was in there listening to Live music one evening and the kids were playing and yelling so loudly they were drowning out the singer. Pubs should be for adult!!!! Pyrate13 Posted September 6, 2017 #63 Share Posted September 6, 2017 I agree somewhat with the OP, I don't care about the games so much but having an age limit at the bars after a certain hour is reasonable and a workable compromise. Adults should have space to relax and enjoy at times without the kids around. As been said, even Disney has restrictions. As for saying go when school is out or go on another line, perhaps someone has good reasons why that doesn't work for them, whether it be cost, work restrictions, or something else. Also, saying go to the casino is certainly no answer for many that can't take the smoke for health reasons or otherwise. Why is compromise such a bad thing these days? DnseinPhx Posted September 7, 2017 #65 Share Posted September 7, 2017 I agree; it's not a matter of children versus adults, but rather just an instance of the same sort of thing we see all over the ship: Chogging, talking as you walk past stateroom doors after midnight, etc. It's not the kids. It's the obnoxious drunks and yes people talking loudly in the halls after 10:00 p.m. Chair hogs, idiots wearing revealing bathing wear in the buffet area, people with foul mouths who lack social common sense....line cutters and the list goes on. They have enough adult areas already. If anything Carnival needs to be a little stricter with the obnoxious ones.
