nissach Posted September 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I had almost booked the Breeze Dec.29, 2018. Ports are Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Amber Cove. This was the cruise I choose because of the ship (never been on the Breeze) and the itinerary (only port that is not new to us is Grand Turk). Just wondering now if St. Thomas will be up and 'running' by then. If not, just wonder what itinerary change will occur. What other options are there for the eastern Caribbean to replace St. Thomas? Now I am considering the Glory(never been on her), same dates, and both cruises I was looking at booking aft balconies. Ports for the Glory are Grand Cayman, Mahogany Bay, Belize and Cozumel. We have been to all except Belize and enjoyed all of them. The Breeze is about $500.00 more. I want to book soon before all the aft balconies are gone. Just wondering what others would choose? DisneyDatknee Posted September 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I highly doubt St. Thomas will still be in ruins. We loved LOVED the decor of the Breeze. A very nice modern, but fun design. We did the the same itineary as the Glory on Holland America's Eurodam (except Half Moon Cay instead of Amber Cove) and thought it was a very relaxing itineary. Lots of beaches and relaxation. San Juan provides the opportunity for some history. IMO, $500 for the Breeze is totally worth it. The ship is easier on the eyes, has a ropes course, a waterpark, and more dining options to choose from. If you're a family, I would pick the Breeze, but if not, I would go with what itineary suits you. I'm sure those ports will be fine by Dec 2018. lagienomai Posted September 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2017 My thoughts are book the Glory. Not knowing what the itinerary will be for Breeze I would book the known. Right now it is 500 less and I have found that Western is cheaper than Eastern. If for some reason the Breeze gets changed to Western then you will have saved yourself 500. I know the Breeze has some things the Glory doesn't but for me I cruise for price first then itinerary. A ship is a ship to me. Others may have other opinions. vamartha Posted September 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2017 I would stay on the Breeze. Nobody knows what will happen in 90ish days. For the current cruises they are substituting St. Kitts (and/or St. Croix) for St. Thomas. I've been to all three and while I probably enjoyed St. Thomas more than St. Kitts, I enjoyed St. Croix more than either! You can get an easy tour at St. Kitts that tours the entire island for approx $25, not a bad way to spend a day. There are suitable beaches and the port area is relatively nice with restaurants, a casino and the usual shopping. Since the other ports won't be affected, I would choose the Breeze over the Glory. I loved the Breeze, my most favorite ship to date! Just my opinion!
A&Jfamily Posted September 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2017 That's Christmas/NY break so either ship is gonna be at capacity. I think Glory is better than Breeze sister ship Magic for crowds. If I had my kids going I would do the Breeze for the bells and whistles (and hope for a new port like St Croix) but if it was just me and DH, I would choose Glory. nissach Posted September 18, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 18, 2017 All very good points...thanks. We are travelling with no kids. So I am thinking that the Breeze has more options for kiddos than the Glory? So maybe more kids on the Breeze for that reason?? Disney...I too would have no issue spending $500 more for the Breeze being that it is newer. Although, saving the $500 is appealing as well. A&JFamily....we always travel at this time of year, so we are used to the ships being full.
OCruisers Posted September 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2017 Glory would be our choice. We cruised on Glory for a B2B and enjoyed the ship! :D
HawkIVette Posted September 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2017 You are crusing in Dec 2018? St Thomas will not be a problem a year or more from now, unless another huricane hits it next year. I would go for the Breeze. Been on both a few times and love more options that the ship has to offer.

Yes 2018. :) I know it is a long way out and most islands will be working hard to get their ports and infrastructure back up to take cruises again as this is where they make the bulk of their money - tourism. I was just concerned about what St. Thomas would actually be like post hurricane. I am still leaning towards the Breeze and the Eastern ports over the Glory and the Western ports, but have not made a final decision. The $500.00 difference for the Glory would be a nice savings, however. Either way I am on a cruise vacation and that is really all that matters.
