Changing guest order on reservation

I tried to search this topic, but couldn't find anything, so my apologies if this has already been addressed:

I am booked on the Oasis in a boardwalk balcony and should get the Eat Drink Play package. I was told by a Royal representative that the soda packages would automatically go to guests 1 and 2 on the reservation. I really wanted the soda packages to go to my kids, since my husband and I usually get our own drink package. She suggested that I change my kids to guests 1 and 2, and then they would automatically get the soda package.

Are there any issues with having children as guests 1 and 2 on the reservation? Would it cause a problem with booking excursions, or billing? I don't want to cause any hiccups at check in or disembarkation.

Thanks! :)

Excursions and billing are done by credit card or account you set up when you check in (or earlier). You can have four cards for four people or just one. Doesn't have to be guest 1. Sound like a good idea to me since parents are buying a different beverage package that other folks should take advantage of.

On Allure last winter we had them take care of this at check-in at the pier and it was quick and easy.:)

You were able to change the kids over to 1 and 2 on the reservation, or just get the soda package switched to the kids?

I just tried and our TA called RCI and they said you can't have a minor as the primary.

Inieresting, because Royal allows minors in their own stateroom (as long as it's next to or across the hall from the parents), in which case the minors would have to be guests 1 and 2.

I was under the impression it could not be done ahead of time, and most just rearranged once on the ship. I know that whatever rep she talked to might have been wrong, but she confirmed it with the RCI specialists they have on staff as well. I had her call back one more time just to push due to the soda packages, and was told the same thing by another rep, but also said they can easily switch the soda package (or the order of guest) at the pier during check-in, but just could not do it now for a minor to be spot 1 (although they would have allowed guest 2).

I currently have 2 cabins booked with only two minors in each. As long as the rooms are adjacent to mine, the kids can be the primary and secondary guests on those cabins. Since you'll be IN the room, there should be no issue with having the kids be guests 1 & 2.

I could probably try again, but so far 2 reps and 2 TA's (one being the RCI specialist) said it can't be done. Maybe they make an exception for a second room next to the primary? I am not real worried, as if nothing else, I will just give the cups to my kids.

Why can't Royal Caribbean have a list of passengers to assign the packages to? It would be so simple to assign Soda to the kids and the Alcoholic packages to the adults. Just a drop down menu to select who you would like the package to go to.

The same could be for OBC when you purchase OBC you could load $20 for Passenger 1 $20 for Passenger 2 and when it goes below $10 automatically reload.

Starbucks has been doing this for years.

I can assign seats on the airplane to all passengers via the seat map so this is not too hard for Royal to implement.

Thanks for all the great responses! I know I could just give the cups to the kids, but I also wanted them to have the freedom to order whatever sodas they wanted at dinner, and it's my understanding they wouldn't be able to do that without the package loaded on their card. My main concern was not breaking any rules or doing anything that might be frowned upon, or would cause us headaches at check in. I'm all about taking care of things ahead of time so we can just enjoy our vacation. Thanks again!

Why?

Why?

Why?

Because you are talking about Royal Caribbean's IT department.

Why can every other business on the internet have a user-friendly interface and well-designed features and just generally be good?

These are the cosmic questions we ask ourselves every day.

I have never been in your situation, so I can only say that if everyone else says to wait until you are on board, and then it is very doable, then go with that.

But if you want to take one more shot at it, call Crown & Anchor and see if they can do it now.

There were three of us, I had purchased drink package. Asked at pier check in to put the two soda packages on wife and daughter's seapass cards and it was taken care of. Sorry I should have explained better.:p

Thanks for clarifying, that makes me feel much better hearing first hand. I had heard others saying there were not allowed to change them, which basically meant we would be throwing away the free soda packages since my wife and I will be getting other packages. I will either get the replenish or deluxe, and my wife will likely get the deluxe.
