AROW285 Posted January 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2018 My sister is going to be going with us on our upcoming cruise in May. We have the flight in settled, as she is flying in early and driving down with us. However, she is trying to figure a flight home. How much time should she allot for getting off the ship in Canaveral and to the airport (we will take her to the airport)? We want to make sure she doesn't book to early of a flight. Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted January 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2018 A flight before noon will be stressful.

SmoothFlying Posted January 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2018 My sister is going to be going with us on our upcoming cruise in May. We have the flight in settled, as she is flying in early and driving down with us. However, she is trying to figure a flight home. How much time should she allot for getting off the ship in Canaveral and to the airport (we will take her to the airport)? We want to make sure she doesn't book to early of a flight. Thanks Depends..On a a few factors.:D A) What time is the ship SUPPOSED to dock ? B) Do you plan on breakfast on the ship or something later ? C) IF time is a question, will she do either 'self-assist OR leave bags outside the night before debarkation? All of these factors have to be considered. Our cruise before last, out of POC, (we've done our last five out of there). We had a 8 a.m. docking and towards the end of our buffet breakfast they called our deck for debarkation. As we arrived on deck five ( 9:30) we were told that ALL debarkation had been stopped due to a mechanical problem with the port escalators, which lead down to ICE. All passengers were directed to sit in areas on deck five and we would be called. About 11:00 a.m. they had fixed the problem and started the process. I was AMAMZED had how understanding and jovial most passengers were! In the back of my mind, I wondered, 'I HOPE none of these folks had a noon flight.':( Just saying that there ARE situations, you cannot plan for. AROW285 Posted January 20, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2018 We dock early in the morning and I think she was thinking more of a late afternoon/early evening flight. Thanks for the feedback.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2018 She will be fine with a late afternoon or an evening flight.
cb at sea Posted January 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2018 MID afternoon will be fine. Evening flights have way too much time "to kill"....It's an hour drive to Orlando....and you'll be off the ship by 10am in almost all circumstances. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 21, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2018 As mentioned nothing before noon. I don't like stress so for me it would be a 1:00 PM or later flight. Keith
trish1c Posted January 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I think the recommended time is 5 hours after you are scheduled to dock or 1 pm which ever is later. Yes, she can probably make a noon flight but I wouldn't risk anything much earlier.
