Family is considering Alaska cruise aboard Oosterdam June 2019 to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

Any info concerning Neptune Veranda Suites? Specifically, are their any privacy curtains to separate main bed from rest of suite? DD and husband would be sharing one suite with us.

Any other reports would be appreciated.

There is a curtain that you can close to separate the front entry/bathroom area from the rest of the cabin. The sofa is configured as a bed at night, but there is no curtain separating the sleeping areas, so it is not really a true suite in that sense. Personally, I would not book a Neptune suite with two couples, but then that's just me, and you may not mind the arrangement.

I don't recall any privacy screening options in the Neptune suite layout on the Vista ships, if the sofa is used as a pull out bed. However, in the smaller verandah cabins there is a partial curtain that can be pulled out between the regular bed and the pullout bed sofa -however that would provide only the illusion of very minimal room division.

My personal feeling is a verandah would would be very cramped for four adults. While more spacious, the Neptune Suites for four adults would be a privacy stretch for me when it comes to sleeping arrangements. For dressing and enjoying the cabin and balcony space, there is more room for four adults to create their own little nooks.

But unless the Vista ship Neptune suites have been totally redone in any later upgrades from when I spend time in them, you may want to consider another option - two adjoining smaller cabins - a larger cabin with a nearby inside cabin. Or go for broke and get the larger separate bedroom Pinnacle Suite. Or as the final suggestion, a Neptune suite on the Prinsendam where the walk in closet is almost as big as some cabins on other ships.

Hope someone else can offer more current information. Also ever think about two of the adults sleeping out on the very spacious Neptune balcony? (Not really a joke, if the weather is fine and you find a way to comfortably accommodate this camping out suggestion.)

Consider a Neptune Suite for you as an anniversary splurge and an adjacent less expensive cabin for DD and SIL.

A corner aft and the veranda cabin next to it could be connected by opening the balcony partition. They don't connect internally. (Interesting point on K'dam, there was an outer doorway to our corner aft and the veranda next to us. It was always open, but if you wanted to make a true suite out of those two, the outer door could be closed. The Vistas don't have this.) For Alaska, the corner afts with their wrap-around balconies are fantastic for relaxed glacier viewing if you don't want to be running all around the ship's public areas.

There's also a combination of the farthest aft Neptune Suite on the side on deck 7 and the veranda next to it.

If you do a combination of one Neptune and one veranda or inside, note that your DD and SIL will not be able to use the Neptune Lounge with you. But you may order afternoon tea or canapes for four in your suite.

Or do two adjacent or connecting signature suites. No Neptune perks, but still nice.

1 bathroom -- small dressing area for 4 adults -- no way -- JMO.

LOL! When our friends wanted to take their first cruise, they asked us to come along and "teach us how to cruise." It was the first of many cruises we took together, both with and without their daughters. The first time they were thinking about a large cabin for the 4 of them, as opposed to two smaller cabins. When I pointed out that the large cabin would have only 1 bathroom for 2 adults and 2 teenage girls, they immediately opted for the two smaller cabins.

All of these are good suggestions imho (y) Just want to add that if your DD and SIL are not in a Neptune, they will not be able to join you for breakfasts in the Pinnacle Grill.
