Shorex cancelled; refund as OBC?

Our itinerary has changed; Aruba cancelled and Nassau substituted. Had purchased an Aruba excursion precruise on credit card and letter in room says will be refunded to onboard account (OBC). Really don’t need additional OBC and am not planning to take a Shorex in Nassau. If I do nothing will this credit be refunded post cruise to credit card or do I need to take a fee hit to get cash in casino? What is best current method to convert the obc to cash? Is it use it or lose it in this case? Letter does not indicate

It would be refundable OBC. No fees to get a cash refund at Guest Services on the last day.

Thanks Bob; would casino be able to see split of refundable vs nonrefundable so I can cash out the nonrefundable w a fee? Our last day is now a port day instead of sea day so want to take care of this stuff ASAP and not in lines

I don't know if the casino can do that.

 

 

Also, if this excursion is being cancelled by RC before the cruise,. I don't understand why they don't refund to the credit card. :confused:

 

That's what would happen if you cancelled it before the cruise.

Bob, the change and cancellation happened once the ship had sailed.

 

Max, if you do nothing the money will be automatically refunded to your credit card at the end of the cruise.

Strong winds... I have been looking at weather reports as we are heading there on Adventure out of Puerto Rico next week.

I hope those winds die down! Headed to Aruba on a cruise in a week as well. I love Aruba

Poor weather. Don’t think anyone is thrilled for Nassau as a substitute especially on final day instead of sea day. Crowd at show booed poor CD when she tried to spin it as a positive. Thought that was a bit in poor taste by fellow cruisers. Dissapointing but Captain does not control weather.

Then the winds must be really strong as these are normal for Aruba and the reason for the divi divi trees slant on the ABC islands.

 

 

You can also just get a cash refund at guest services at the end of your cruise. There's no need to do this in the casino if it's a refundable credit. I did this on our recent Anthem cruise when part of our port fees were refunded as a credit to our account. I don't know why that was since we didn't miss any ports. Same thing happened on our January Anthem cruise that had a completely different itinerary with no ports missed.

We've had many cruise port stops in Aruba and the other ABC islands and never have had a cancellation as all are docked ports.

If you did want to get cash from the casino without a service fee I believe it must be from a cash onboard account even if that account does shows a refundable credit at the time this is being done.

I also do not remember Aruba getting cancelled.

Aruba has winds regularly. Maybe the direction of the wind caused the captain to cancel.

I don't get charged - I have a sticker on my card, but yes, otherwise there is a 5% fee.

It's a VIP sticker for playing in the casino - free drinks in the casino and they waive the 5% fee.

I am on the same cruise. My online account says "ShorEx" OBC Nonrefundable. I had booked the excursion from cruise planner, using my non refundable OBC. Check your online account to see if it says "non ref".

I agree. Wonder if the Adventure decided to cancel also. She was scheduled with us in Aruba.
