On our way out of Luminae we stopped at the hostess desk and asked to see tonight’s dinner menu. Katya provides us with today and tomorrow. After seeing nothing we were really interested in for tonight we asked if she could make a reservation for us at The Lawn Club Grill. She was able to get us in at 8pm. After breakfast we went back to the cabin to gather our things for the day and headed off the ship a little after 9am. As I mentioned before there was a free shuttle bus provided from the ship to Mykonos Town. You can walk it but it will take about 30 minutes and there are not sidewalks most of the way, and there is nothing really to see on the way, just ship docks or apartments. We had to wait maybe 5 minutes to get on a shuttle as they were arriving frequently. The ride to town took about 5 minutes. From the bus drop off it’s another 5 minute walk to reach the main shopping and restaurant area. We walked along and as we approached a scenic point I pulled out my camera only to get a message that my digital card was missing. I was pissed! I had left it in the cabin and in my rush getting ready for the day forget to make sure it was actually in the camera. So back to the bus we went (luckily there was one leaving right away) and back to the ship. Mike sat on a bench out front so he wouldn’t have to deal with security while I ran quickly back onto the ship. In our cabin I saw that I had left the card in Mike’s laptop as I had offloaded pictures the prior day. Back down and off the ship I went and met up with Mike. We headed over to catch another shuttle bus only discover the line was HUGE now. We had to wait about 10 minutes to get on one this time. All of this back and forth cost us about a half hour of time.

Once back at town we just started wandering. We strolled down a lane that wound up slowly going uphill until we came in sight of an old defunct windmill that was very picturesque. Just a little further up the hill was another more intact windmill. After getting some photos we wandered back down into the town. We basically spent the rest of our time browsing shops and snapping photos. I bought a few ceramic and wood pieces for our walls created by local artists. The two places I purchased from were called Meraki Mykonos (at Mpasoula 2) and Galatis (on Polikandrioti Street) Lots of wonderful pieces of art at both places. We also stopped at a bakery that a shop owner recommended for reasonable prices where we bought a couple varieties of baklava. The name of the bakery was in Greek so I can’t type it here but it was located right near the bus station.

Around 1pm we were hungry and stopped for lunch at a restaurant near the harbor called Captain’s which ranked high on Trip Advisor. There were some guests paying their bill when we arrived so the server said it would be 5 minutes. When the table was cleared we discovered it was one of the few not under an awning. As it had been raining off and on we asked if we could sit inside and luckily they had one table left. We ordered some pita bread with tzatziki to start. The bread was fresh and warm and the tzatziki was creamy and delicious. For our entree we split a massive meat platter full of sausages, pork, chicken, beef patties and fries. It was SO good! The food was fantastic and the service was friendly and efficient so I would highly recommend this place. It’s right across from the blue domed church and the main harbor pier right on the center of town. I’ll share photos of the food and menus.

After lunch we wandered a bit more but Mike was getting tired and it was sprinkling with darkening clouds so we headed back to the shuttle bus to take us back to the ship around 3pm. Overall we had a great day. I would recommend coming in as early as possible if you want to get photos as it got very crowded with three ships in port, and this was only shoulder season. The shuttle starts at 7:30am. I would take it first thing, walk into town all the way to the iconic windmills first as that got very crowded with tourists and made photo taking hard.d6949864d661dcd86b26df64d3f7b5ac.jpgb041681516543d9b4aa4aaac4d132c20.jpg6a3acda36dc28f20395727ec0609b0fe.jpgaf17cb408e6a49626b8381dc01576818.jpgc67acab6a30a2009a1770acdde6676cb.jpg1fb905213d38dc8434a815d69e75647e.jpg

TBH I would go to luminae for the breakfast pastries alone. So much better than any other pastry on board that I've tried.

Sent from while daydreaming I am in Luminae

Something must have changed. We were in Luminae last month for our first time. The pastries were exactly the same as what we were always served in Blu or MDR for breakfast and probably were also available in the buffet.

Must have been an off sailing. The pastry basket is the one thing that has not changed in Luminae in the 5 cruises I have been there since 2016. They have things I have not seen elsewhere in the ship. And the quality is much better than the buffet pastries.

Hi! Loving your review and pictures! We were on the Reflection several years with a slightly different itinerary. Ours included Istanbul and Kusadasi (Ephasus). Your review is bringing back wonderful memories! I smiled immediately seeing the windmill pictures. Now I want to go back! Thank you!!

We have done this itinerary on Reflection in the past and feel lucky to be doing it again with our daughter in a few months. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and I look forward to your upcoming posts.

Thank you Adam your photos are stunning, I am so looking forward to our cruise 20th July, same itinerary. They have certainly given me an insight of what to expect. I know my sisters who are on this cruise are really enjoying themselves. Roll on the Santorini photos. Jane

Love your perception, it was mine too, the galley bakes all the morning pastries for every venue on the ship.

Thank you to all those who have passed along such kind comments. I appreciate it and glad you are enjoying following my journey.

Finishing off Tuesday’s adventures...We got back to the ship after our Mykonos day and relaxed in the cabin for awhile. Mike wound up taking a nap while I caught up with some things online and then enjoyed the sailaway from our balcony. I had mentioned that we had made reservations for Lawn Club Grill for 8pm, but after we returned to the ship we decided to cancel as we had so much meat for lunch. Sujith, our butler, had stopped by with the afternoon snacks and we asked him to cancel the booking. He then asked us if we did not like the afternoon snacks as we had not been eating most of them. We told him we were buying so many yummy sweets at the ports we were visiting that we had no room for the other snacks. We told him he could stop bringing them. He had a new offering of scones which he said he’d bring in place of the others. The scones were absolutely delicious!

For dinner we had seen the Luminae menu and didn’t care for it so decided to just go to Oceanview. Before we headed up though I caught a beautiful sunset over the Aegean with the sun disappearing over Mykonos in the distance behind us. Dinner was pretty good at Oceanview. I put together a salad and they were offering an amazingly tender roasted chicken. I also had some mashed potatoes and a slice of their pizza which I always find tasty. Mike also enjoyed the chicken and tried some meatballs. After dinner I stopped by the Martini Bar en route to the casino to get one of my favorites, a Black Forest Martini. At the casino our luck was not as hot as the previous night. Machines were very tight; I think they were trying to get back all the money they gave the night before!
