QM2 Hamburg Maintenance? October 2019

I noticed a gap in the schedule for QM2, and I was wondering if anyone had any insights. She arrives into Hamburg on October 27, 2019, and departs November 1. I've checked the schedule on Cunard, Cruise Critic, and a few other sites. I don't see anything scheduled during the gap. I'm booked for the Hamburg departure on November 1. I'm not concerned...just curious. Thank you in advance for any insights.

The Cunard brochure I have says:

25 Oct -3 Nov - Southampton, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Southampton – 9 nights

While I certainly believe your brochure indicates as such, doesn't it seem odd that I'm unable to find a confirmation anywhere else?

Just speculating here, but this might be another one of those "Stars at Sea" cruises from Hamburg (or something similar). Looking back, I see there was a similar 5-day gap in QM2's schedule from May 27 to June 1, 2018 in the online Cunard 2018 brochure that I have downloaded on my PC. Those dates correspond to the recently completed "Peter Maffay III" Stars at Sea cruise from Hamburg on QM2. As you may know, Peter Maffay has previously been on 5-day Stars at Sea cruises from Hamburg on QM2 in November 2013 and September 2015. It wouldn't surprise me if something similar is in the works for October 27-November 1, 2019.

Thanks John. I've been immensely curious.

I get into Hamburg on the 28th and it'll be great fun to see her sail into port the morning of Nov 1st. I'm staying on a ship on the Elbe, so the vantage point will be perfect.

Looking back to last year, there was also a 5-day gap from October 29 to November 3, 2017 in QM2's schedule in the online Cunard brochure I have for 2017. That was another "Stars at Sea" cruise from Hamburg with David Garrett as the featured performer (and that was the QM2 cruise that had to be shortened by a day because of Storm Herwart, not departing Hamburg until October 30).

We (= my wife, our small son, me) will join that departure as well (Hamburg-NYC). It's our first "real" cruise, and we're curious to see if Cunard suits us and how we'll cope with a small kid on board.

Greetings HelgeK, You may want to join the Roll Call for this crossing. I hope you and your family thoroughly enjoy your adventure on QM2!

Looks like you won`t see her sail into the port on Nov 1st. This is the 2019 Hamburg port schedule:

https://www.schiffe-in-hamburg.de/de/_calls_2019.htm

Arrival date: Oct 27, 07:00 am. Departure: Nov 01 07:00 pm. No arrival time on Nov 01st.

Looks like she will have some kind of maintenance. The Blohm+Voss dock is right across from St Pauli Landungsbrücken.

I think we now have the answer to the gap in QM2's schedule from October 27 to November 1, 2019.

I found this on a German travel agent web site a few days ago. I have replaced the name of the travel agent with "XXXXXXXX". Nothing yet (that I could find anyway) on which performer will be the star at sea for this voyage.

Thanks BlueMarble. This is very exciting. I'll be in Hamburg to see her arrive and depart on 27.10.19, and then arrive and depart on 01.11.19 (onboard).

If anyone is interested, following are my notes on one of the Hamburg harbor tour companies that runs a 'QM2 Departure Escort' party for most of her Hamburg departures. I'm hoping to do this on 27.10.19. It sounds like a blast.

QM2 Departure Escort!
•    Departure Escort with ‘Gregors GmbH & Maritime Circle Line’, board at St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (Brücke 10), usually 18:30-20:30, €29
•    “Begleitfahrt der Queen Mary 2” (Accompanying cruise of the Queen Mary 2)
•    “Who has not heard the muffled, heavy and unmistakable Tuten of Mary? On board the barge you can feel it even close up in the stomach tingling ... We drive from the Landungsbrücken to observe the depositing maneuver up close. Afterwards we accompany the queen of the seas down the Elbe and swing the handkerchiefs to the passengers high up on the railing.”
•    Book Online, Cash Bar, Red Boats “Maritime-Circle Line”, maybe ‘Ballinstadt’
