rcicruiser Posted March 1, 2006 #1726 Share Posted March 1, 2006 As far as I'm concerned, no interviewer has asked her any tough questions! On the contrary, they seem to be treating her with kid gloves. Perhaps that was a prerequisite of her appearing on their shows? Otherwise, how could she have them all so mesmerized and sympathetic to her. I thought that Oprah was the worst. It was just a ploy to get more screen time for her "best friend". Cathy I agree nobody is asking her or the George's family the tough questions. they need to. The question her interview raised was no she says she was near on the persons cabins that they where hanging around with. But I remember the interview with Brett Rivkind about the room service, he said the Smith cabin was on deck 9 and the boys where on deck 3. So who is not telling the truth. She says everyone is saying bad things about her. Well wasn't she the one that went on TV first and said she was treated badly by the cruiseline. Then they tell everyone what happened and now she needs a PR person to help her out. She started it. I hope the truth comes out soon about and then we all will know what happened. Oh the one thing I did not hear her say, unless she is going to say it in part 2 tomorrow is what is her relationship with George's family now. Barefoot_Pirate Posted March 1, 2006 #1727 Share Posted March 1, 2006 I am confused as to how a cruise line is to determine when and how a cruise line can prevent a passanger from becoming drunk to the point they harm themselves or others. DW had the good sense to passout in the hall, and if DH had joined her by passing out in the hall then we would not have this to discuss. Are we to believe it is reasonable for the line to give breath tests in the halls and cabins, so that drunk passangers can be locked up away from their booze? Perhaps RCCL should have tied them up, but absent that, it looks to me that these folks were determined to be self destructive. We have at least one fellow passanger who came forward to say that DW was not drunk when she left the casino...yet shortly there after DW was passed out in the hallway, while the DDH was still walking around and drinking more with his new friends. Anyway the only way to make a determination is through testing, which is why states have such test for DWI...observation is not...'cause if you are going to restrain someone you should have a good reason. We also do not know when their behavior progressed to the point of no return, and was it caused by the covert consumption of smuggled booze (in cabin or elsewhere)...for all we know RCCL never sold them any booze to start with. AFT_LOVER Posted March 6, 2006 #1730 Share Posted March 6, 2006 after a week in the hospital for PNEUMONIA! One sicko on a 11 hour flight back from HNL as we slept. It went right to our chests & in 2 days we could hardly breathe. Got one of our cop neighbors to get us to the hospital & I was rght we both had peneumonia. So they have us on breathing machines to get the crap out of our lungs, eventho we did take that much advertised Musinex which did -0-! Still coughing up stuff but loads better than it was. We even got our wn room, so they know how to get folks better fast. TV was a board without TIVO but we have plenty to watch at home. Welcome back, MACOP! Hope you had a great trip, and thanks for the update:).

ILoveScotland Posted March 6, 2006 #1732 Share Posted March 6, 2006 Wow! A week in the hospital. You were one sick woman. I had pneumonia a few years ago that after a trip to the Caribbean. I started getting sick while in St. Croix and was convinced I picked up the bug on the airplane from Atlanta to St. Croix. I felt horrible and went to the doctor when I returned home. Antibiotics and a few days' rest took care of me. I can't imagine how sick you must have been to be in the hospital a week. Anyway, glad you're better and back helping us keep track of the saga of RCCL, the Smiths, Jennifer and George and all the rest.
AFT_LOVER Posted March 6, 2006 #1733 Share Posted March 6, 2006 which DH & I took turns with to get this moving out so we could go home. 2 great nurses who were so taken that we have never been art in 26 years, even in the hospital. So they put a pincher on my nose & then the breathing unit to my mouth & it forces air in & out making me cough hard, then the 2 nurses pound on my back to get it moving out. Hurts yes, but it was a loving hurt not a vengeful hurt. Then a great rub down since our skin in bone dry from no liquids, since we cant taste & even water is like a death serum. So we are talking about George & Jen Smith & both knew allot about the case. Both think Jen killed him, yet I stated he is still alive out there & freaked them both & a day later they agreed with me & a few other nurses stopped by for a chat on the subject. Sure did break up their day but not one thing on TV anymore til we heard a sport Friday that Rita would have families of missing cruisers on next week. The elder of them has a cruise booked on Brilliance sailing the Med so she can act out what they did from casino to bar to room & yes she did get their room! Wow! A week in the hospital. AFT_LOVER Posted March 7, 2006 #1734 Share Posted March 7, 2006 was just like a rerun of Dateline a few weeks back with the 5 cases of missing people & one guy who is with us but had a floating story to tell. So now every news magazine will rerun the same old stuff, BORING!

ILoveScotland Posted March 7, 2006 #1741 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Did anyone besides me see Jennifer's interview on Good Morning America today? She and a woman who was assaulted by a crew member in 2000 were interviewed by Charlie Gibson about the hearing today. I didn't hear anything really new, just said in different language. I did note that Gibson kept calling the Smith case a crime and thought that interesting.

kruz Posted March 7, 2006 #1743 Share Posted March 7, 2006 I only caught the "Smith Family" early on and it really irked me the way they are blaming RCCL...trying to change Maritime Law and also the way they came right out and said "this is a murder"....well, how do they know that??? I am one that still thinks it was all a terrible accident.
canucks4 Posted March 7, 2006 #1744 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Corona - just pop in to say hello even!! I'm in the accident/suicide boat as well. There is no evidence of murder at all. Speculation and gossip does not equate to a murder case. If only the FBI would comment, and/or at least indicate some timeline for closure of their investigation. Waiting like everyone else..... curlyd Posted March 7, 2006 #1747 Share Posted March 7, 2006 This link was posted on another thread. I thought it was interesting regarding the estrangement of JS from GS's family. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/07/earlyshow/main1377310.shtml
azbirdz Posted March 7, 2006 #1748 Share Posted March 7, 2006 I'm still amazed at some of the things that GS's family is saying, for example: Geo Sr says RCI should have notified (someone) sooner so that they could have answers. RCI began their notification that morning -- within an hour or so (if memory serves), so how much sooner could they have done that? Geo Sr also states that they couldn't get answers from RCI --- but it was Bree who terminated the contact wherein RCI was trying to provide updates. The estrangement is an interesting but not surprising development. I'm sure it (as is the whole situation) is heartbreaking for them. I do feel sorry for their loss -- but continue to believe that there wasn't any negligence -- a horrible tragedy, yes, negligence by RCI? No. Could they have done things 'better?' --- probably. Each circumstance brings knowledge, even tragedies. I've been reading these boards and am consistently impressed by everyone's opinions.

Yes but you have to understand the Smith's are right and everyone else is wrong. Nobody has come out and said it was a murder. Most people think it was an accident. You can not tell them that though because they get very defense and say you are attacking them, why what are they hiding. During the hearings yesterday on of the representives from Florida called the Smith lawyer a ambulance chaser and want to know how much the lawyer was making. He did not like that at all. If they think they are being attack it is a good thing they do not read this thread.
azbirdz Posted March 9, 2006 #1750 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Thanks rcicruiser -- you got me back into reality-land and out of rhetorical-reply-land. I have to remember that reading and watching the Smiths is like watching a bad movie -- suspend all belief and it seems more reasonable! :D I momentarily lost track without corona here!
