How “poor” a bid can work?

Just saw the Dawn pulling back into Boston from my kitchen window. Did you guys have to turn around due to the Hurricane Florence? Hopefully they can at least substitute out a New England port so you don't have to leave the ship early. Good luck and hopefully everyone is still enjoying themselves :)

???

The Dawn is currently showing in Sydney, Halifax.

My minimum bid was accepted within a few days. I went from an inside to a balcony on the Dawn Southern Caribbean cruise over Thanksgiving last year. The cruise was from San Juan post hurricane and lots of families from Puerto Rico were on the cruise. Perhaps they just needed to open up inside cabins for provide cabins for those families to take.

My next cruise is on the Pearl at Christmas. I haven't been offered an upgrade bid yet. On the Dawn my invitation came about 2 weeks prior to sailing and was accepted 3 days later.

Keep in mind, whatever you bid is charged at 2x as double occupancy is assumed, even for solo cruisers.
