BK512 Posted November 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2018 We have a group on an Alaska cruise next summer...20 people. We all picked the your choice dining to offer more flexibility. Can we make a reservation if we have a table of, say, 8 people that want to dine together? Is there a table size restriction for such a thing? Thanks in advance

ArtsyCraftsy Posted November 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2018 You can make a main dining room reservation, yes. I think the largest table I saw on the Rotterdam seated 10, so 8 would be no problem. I'd do it 24 hrs in advance if possible, but probably the same day would work, too. Krazy Kruizers Posted November 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2018 You can make reservations for Open Seating only during certain times and for 3 days at a time. The times are usually 5:15 - 6:15 and 7:30 - 9. There are several tables that can handle 8 people.

Nashna Posted November 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Thank you for the information. Where do you go to make the reservations? I understand that reservations can only be made three days in advance.
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 6, 2018 You can go to the lower dining room and make them there or there is a podium in the Lido near where the Canaletto restaurant is.

You may also dial (I think it's 88) for dining reservations. Do it first thing in the morning.
GRACECRUISE Posted November 8, 2018 #10 Share Posted November 8, 2018 We went to the main dining room lunch embarkation day and they had someone there doing dinner reservations. They let us book the same table same time for the entire trip.

We typically eat in the MDR on embarkation day as the Lido is usually a mad house. On Princess last year, we were in Club Class and had amazing wait staff on the first day at a window two top table. We never had a wait and always had the same two wonderful servers .
Rare boards Posted November 13, 2018 #13 Share Posted November 13, 2018 We used open seating, at first we made reservations, but then later we just went about the same time and got seating very quickly. We were on the Koningsdam just recently. It worked out just fine, sometimes we had company and other times it was just the two of us. It was our choice every time. Be prepared for a great meal in the dining room. The main portions were big. We had to slow down going to the dining room and ate in the Lido, so we would have clothes to wear home that fit.
