Just off the Paradise

Since we live in Tampa, we have sailed Paradise 3 times so far, #4 coming up over NYEve; this will be our first trip after the dry dock, so we finally get our balcony that we have missed on previous Paradise cruises.

We love the Fantasy Class ships for size and easy navigating.  We have thought that the food on board was pretty good -- better than some ships we have sailed, for that matter.  We have always found the crew to be lovely.

On our last Paradise cruise, on our final sea day the temperature bottomed out, and we discovered that they have no heat on the ship; it was so cold we slept in all of our clothes, and we still froze.  (It was 45 when we disembarked in Tampa the next morning.)  We'll never sail again without one set of really warm clothes, heavy jackets, and SOCKS!)

l'd love to see pics of an aft extended balcony??? We sail in March our first  back to back. U198  & U226.

Hope there is a lounger and unobstructed view in the aft extended balcony, a fridge in both cabins.

Hoping the atrium has the bar area when people often congregate, some good shows & a chance to get a deck chair by the pool!

We are on the Paradise the end of May. I have a couple questions.

How crowded was the Serenity area?

Was there a difference in food quality Lido vs MDR? or was it uniformly mediocre?

Any advice of the best place to spend the evenings music / entertainment / ambiance wise?

I'll have to remember that we sail in December.

DH and I have sailed on the Paradise 4 times in the past year and never found the food to be mediocre in the MDR. We do order the Steakhouse Selections several times during a cruise, but only because there isn't an actual Steakhouse to eat in which we do on Carnival ships that have a Steakhouse.  Lido buffet is pretty good, but breakfasts tend to be the same every day. Guy's Burger Joint burgers are really good. The Paradise crew is wonderful and always very friendly. We had a crew member send chocolate covered strawberries to our cabin after we remembered his name from a previous cruise. Muster drills were inside at first, but then you had to go to the lifeboat area. I'm a special needs person with some mobility issues, so we got to stay in the theatre the whole time. I spend all my time in the casino when it's open, but DH does attend some of the main and comedy shows. He says they are ok, but not the big productions of years past. The smoking area is on Deck 11, not on the Promenade Deck anymore. Also in the casino. I get cold in the cabins, but DH can reach the control in the ceiling and just turns the AC off  when needed. I think all cabins have mini-fridges now. We love the Paradise and live only 45 minutes from the Port of Tampa, so it's very convenient to sail from there.
