victory2020 Posted January 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2019 Hello, I saw fair reviews of this hotel as a good place to stay for a one night before a cruise since it has a free airport shuttle. I went to website & it said to call for reservation. I did & all the guy wanted was the date of stay & my name, nothing more. I asked if I would get a confirmation of any sort he said "no, just use my name". I booked because rate was $25 less than booking sites & I was on the phone with him. Since we're arriving at 8pm I'm a little scared of not having a room at that price - or even a room. Has anyone had experience good or bad with booking directly with this hotel? fishywood Posted January 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2019 Having a markup rather than a discount when booking on a consolidator website is a pretty big red flag. As is the 25% who rate this property "poor" or "terrible" on Tripadvisor. Based on the reviews it seems that walk-ups are pretty much this hotel's preferred method of operation--especially as they also offer hourly rates. So as I see you are posting on a roll call for a March 31 cruise, I wouldn't be satisfied with a wholly unconfirmed, non-deposited pseudo-reservation on a peak season weekend. Rare Noxequifans Posted January 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2019 The TripAdvisor negative reviews shouldn’t be ignored. Even if the hotel has the reservation it doesn’t look like a comfortable and clean place to stay.
victory2020 Posted January 15, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Seems like any hotel that has any better rating is $400/night . I just want a place to sleep (arriving about 9pm & leaving 9am). I was really hoping someone who has first hand experience with hotel will chime in. Cruisin Kay D Posted January 23, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Sounds like you had better forget that one, and search for a hotel near airport!!! Do NOT stay at a place that is know to rent rooms by hour!!!
Flymia Posted January 23, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2019 I would not stay there. There has to be another airport hotel with decent rates with an airport shuttle. There are tons of hotels by the airport.
BlueHerons Posted January 26, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2019 No, I would not stay at this hotel. Keep in mind bad hotels in Miami aren't usually speaking of dirty rooms but crime.
Diver2014 Posted January 27, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2019 That hotel has the 836 'freeway' behind it. Very, very busy road. It's also in a Spanish speaking neighborhood, which I'm not saying is a bad thing, I'm just saying. And, it's very close to the end of the runway at the airport. I wouldn't stay there.
