Is there a corkage charge in the Princess Grill Dining Room should one bring a bottle of wine?

It's not specific to PG, its ship wide in any public area and any restaurant or bar.

 

Having stated that, there's been times when we've had it waived. We do still run up quite a scary bar/wine bill.

The FAQ was changed last autumn to say corkage is $25 but there have been a number of reports since then of $20 being charged.

Frequently take my own champagne into the Grills and rarely get a corkage charge if I have been a regular purchaser of wines at table.

We took a very special bottle champagne on board QM2 for my birthday last June and our lovely Sommelier, who we have had the pleasure of meeting on many occasions, refused to charge us as he said it was an honour to open such a bottle. We thanked him warmly, offered him a glass - which he refused - and added what would have been  the corkage to his tip.

Cruiseluvva:  We actually had a similar experience a number of years ago, but with French  wine and not champagne.  The wine steward was very curious about the various aspects of the unusual wine and he came back to us several ties with questions.  He also was very pleased to open a different wine.
