kpark895 Posted February 24, 2019 #628 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Thanks for all of the work you put into this. I wish you much luck in your ongoing life endeavors, and will happily follow along on your new Atlanta thread.
ellenw Posted February 24, 2019 #629 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Sid, you mentioned that you are considering doing one of RCI's mega ships. I was on the inaugural Transatlantic sailing of Harmony of the Seas. I think she is my favorite ship so far. Just loved it. Highly recommend her. I'm sure a 7 day cruise will be much different than our 15 day! Definitely an older crowd, but still lots of fun. Thanks for all the time and effort in doing this review. I followed along on your Bliss review. I'll be going back to read your others. Looking forward to many more.

(I'll add a link, for those in Rio Linda) I have no plan or idea where this will even go, or how long it will last. It may end up being just a flash in the pan, we'll see... Here's how you can get one in the "Friends of cruise critic". You may want to do that as I'm not sure how long your thread will stay in the test forum.
Rare Von & John Posted February 24, 2019 #631 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Thanks Sid -- Love to join you on your cruises... Enjoying the ATL thread & looking forward to any cruises you may take in the future.
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 24, 2019 Author #632 Share Posted February 24, 2019 I found this in the rear pocket of my suitcase... I stashed it away while I was waiting for boarding to begin, as I had no intention on waiting until group 2... Being the first time sailing out of New Orleans, I didn't really know if they followed the same procedure as I was used to in Miami...
Luvmypups Posted February 26, 2019 #633 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Thanks for letting us tag along Sid, I had a great time! Can’t wait to get on the Breakaway on March 17th and your review gave me great insight in what to expect! Thanks Again!
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 26, 2019 Author #634 Share Posted February 26, 2019 The collection continues to grow... Beginning on the left, from June first 2017, on what would have been her 50th birthday... Three more visits since then, to my special place on Cozumel... I began packing last night, as moving is inevitable, although I have no idea where I'm going. I could just lay in bed all day today, but I have to keep trying...

Texasgingerbread Posted February 26, 2019 #637 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Guiilty. I'm a lurker. However, I do thank you for an awesome trip report. I felt like I was walking there with you. Great pics and what a way to explore each port. If you do a RCL megaship and it's on the Allure I'm interested!! We are sailing the Allure in Thanksgiving 2020. Thanks again. On the Breakaway March 10 and it'll be our first time with NCL.
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #638 Share Posted February 27, 2019 I thought about putting this chapter in the Ay Tee El thread, but I guess it's relevant to the story here if you've been following along... Today, being a very special day for me, and not really in a good way, but special nonetheless... I decided to go have dinner at her favorite restaurant. Of course, I would be dining on her favorite dish. I left from work, and parked my car over behind the place where I used to work... I walked the mile or so to the Lindbergh Marta station, and heading towards the city. Pretty soon, I was walking on the streets of midtown Atlanta, which was not featured in the beginning of the review. I snapped photos, as if I were a tourist, even though I've lived here all my life...

Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #641 Share Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) I was getting closer, and I actually ended up passing the place to take a few more pictures... I walked back to the restaurant, which I can only assume used to be a house, way back and long ago... A couple pictures from when I passed it the first time. Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #643 Share Posted February 27, 2019 Alright... So, now I'm back at the restaurant, and I enter, into the very small hostess area. The place appeared mostly full, but luckily there was a small table available. I already knew pretty much what I was going to order, but it took several minutes until the waitress came back. Not to worry. I'm sitting there, in the small space that's very special to me. I just sat for a moment, and considered the gravity of the situation... The waitress soon returned, and I placed my order. Caeser salad, fried calamari, and ravioli de fungi (mushroom ravioli) And, Ihe piece de resistance... Ravioli de fungi... 4
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #644 Share Posted February 27, 2019 The salad and the calamari arrived together, and were both quite good... Squid can often times be tough and "rubber band like" however, this turned out to be nice and easily chewable... Several minutes later, the entree arrived at the table... I paused for a moment, then picked up the fork. I cut the first piece of ravioli in half, and was soon transported back to one of the few great memories of my life... I thought about life, and then for a few seconds, I thought about nothing at all... I savored every single bite. It was strange being back in this old familiar place. I knew that I couldn't just sit here forever, so I asked for my check, and I felt a trickling deep inside my head... I wiped my nose, and my finger came back blood red... S#!t, not now!... Pretty soon, I was attempting to manage an ever increasing quantity of blood, now dripping about as much as I can conceivably conceal at this juncture... Thankfully, she soon brought the check, and I would at least be able to go outside and bleed on the sidewalk, rather than here inside of a respectable restaurant... Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #645 Share Posted February 27, 2019 (edited) I'm out on the street now, and I'm heading towards the Marta station... I pass this tiki statue, that I've never seen before. You've got my attention now... I walk up the stairs, and enter the strange unfamiliar place. A tiki bar? In midtown? Hmmm? Well, I continued further, and came upon a bar area. Only about five or six people were in the entire place. I perused the menu, and figured that you can't judge a bar such as this with anything other than a Mai Tai... Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #646 Share Posted February 27, 2019 It was a pretty legit Mai Tai, as of course you know I'm an expert now... What, with my two and a half whole weeks of tiki bar culture knowledge, how could I go wrong?... I snapped a few more pictures...
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #647 Share Posted February 27, 2019 The owner noticed me taking pictures, and offered to take me on a tour of the newly renovated establishment... First downstairs, into the basement, where there was a whole 'nother bar... (Yes, in Georgia, 'nother is a word)
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #648 Share Posted February 27, 2019 And, then an entire other area...
Rare sid_9169 Posted February 27, 2019 Author #649 Share Posted February 27, 2019 I ordered another drink. I cannot remember the name of this one... He said it was the strongest drink on the menu... I asked if they had anything with tequila... They did have one signature drink featuring tequila. I can't remember it's name either... Man, these must've been some pretty good drinks. Either that, or my brain is headed rapidly towards insanity...
