"Interesting" review of NCL Dawn

I haven't had any negative experiences with the photographers on my NCL sailings so far. Aside from the obligatory photo when first boarding the ship, which it does seem hard to get out of, a quick "no thank you" to any photographer on the ship and I was left alone. The do seem most common in the specialty restaurants, but I would say I have only been approached about a photo about 50% of the time I have dined in specialty restaurants and have never been asked for a photo more than once in a single meal. I have certainly never been "begged" for a photo. I have been asked politely, said "no thank you" and that was the end of it.

On our last cruise on the Dawn we ate only in the specialties. Photographers were obnoxious. Hovering around the tables trying to make eye contact. When we said, "no thank you", they came back after dessert.

I don't believe the beds are true twins.

I don' think they they are twins either. They are more like my mom and dad used to call studio size, a little smaller than twins. Our last cruise hubby and I decided to have them separated as he gets cold and I get hot at night. That was the last time we will do that. Yes, it was the Dawn. We could barely roll over without fear of falling out of bed. As for the photographers we are 7 of our 10 meals in specialty dining rooms and were really not bothered by them. In fact is years past we have been bothered a lot more. I can remember the days when they even really ask if you wanted your picture taken, they just came by and said ok move closer together and smile or something like that. You had to let them know to leave you alone The same with embarkation time and leaving the ship in port.

Thanks for posting this.  I admit I have a guilty pleasure to read cruise reviews like this.  Very entertaining.  I wish someone would put them all in a book and you could read them all after the other.

There are some that are even more entertaining right here on Cruise Critic.  My 2 favorites are from the Jewel where a woman wrote paragraphs how there was NOTHING to eat and how she survived starvation from picking at bread. She wanted to get off the ship to eat and get food but they would not allow her.  The review was roll off the chair funny.

A recent Bliss review also was over the top.  A woman claimed she was ignored when she spilled water in a restaurant so she complained.  That night the ship sent chocolate covered strawberries to her cabin.  However she was with her husband in one cabin and her 2 teenage sons shared another cabin. They sent them to the son's room by mistake.  She said she went to the front desk and waited 35 minutes in line to complain to question where the strawberries came from.   She wanted to make sure a sexual predator was not sending them to her kid's room for other reasons.  She also stated they could never find a place to eat and sit down and had to have breakfast delivered to the cabin every morning.  And what I just wrote was the tip of the iceberg.
Its pure entertainment IMHO.

Do you have a link to the Jewel review you mention? I'd be interested in reading it. I think I have already read the Bliss review you mentioned.

The OP should have checked the deck plans, where cabin and window size would have been printed.  We booked an OV on Deck 5 which has a larger picture window.  The bed was comfortable, and suitable for whatever.

If the Op checked around his cabin or asked the cabin steward, he would have noticed the thermostat, with which he could have adjusted the temperature.  Granted the air conditioning in the corridors or public rooms can be too cold, so bring a sweater.

We all know that food opinions are subjective,  but I thought that the food on our two week Dawn cruise last October was very good,  not at all comparable to a microwaved TV dinner.  We dined in specialty and MDRs.

We'll be in an OV on the Gem soon, and looking forward to fun in Bermuda.

As I look at it, Im on vacation! You make it what you want! What did you expect??? I think the reviewer is crazy!  Sailing on the Dawn April 7......Ill review for all!! I am questioning the cost.....? Really? A few dollars more I got a balcony on deck 10 plus all the trimmings!!!  I cant believe some of the outrageous claims.....LOL. Its a huge value for the price....I don't expect five star dining or top shelf liquor and honestly as long as its not the Motel 6 breakfast , Im happy! Feed me, give me drinks, good people to sail with, some winnings at the casino, Im golden!!! MMMMM, can I also ask for a deck chair and wonderful weather with smooth sailing!??

I tried to find it recently.  It was way back around 2010 which now makes it harder to find.  I swear it was a doozy and one of the funniest reviews ever.
