Kids in MDR

Hi all, i’m Cruising soon with my 2 kids 1 and 3.

 

when in the MDR will it be ok for my 3 year old to wear shorts, they will probably be tailored shorts with a shirt?

 

just wondering how strictly the dress code of trousers is adhered to for kids?

You're on NCL! Freestyle cruising.  There's no dress code for the MDR (but please wear clothes. 🙂)

For the child...

"Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants."

 

For adults, dress codes can vary by ship and by restaurant. It's best to check the dailies to find out which restaurants are "cruise casual" and which are "smart casual".

 

Certain MDRs such as The Manhattan Room may not allow shorts on a particular ship but other ships with The Manhattan Room allow shorts. Don't be surprised if you get conflicting posts about The Manhattan Room MDR dress code.

Thanks guys, on Epic I was refused entry to MDR for tailored shorts so wanted to check. Any other kids hints/tips/hacks greatfully recirved

There are usually 2 MDRs. One is "come as you are", the other one would be "more formal". Just make sure to go to the right one.

I think one of the specialties might have its own dress code as well.

To avoid any confusion, on many NCL ships no shorts are allowed in the aft MDR (for adults).

I found on the Bliss that there were signs outside all the dining venues with the suggested dress listed for all dining venues for that day.  As noted by others - things might be relaxed some for kids, especially those ages.

You all can wear shorts to almost all restaurants on board.  You didn't say which ship, but the ones out of NY have been allowing shorts in all the MDR's for some time.  There will be one specialty restaurant that requires pants (including jeans or capris) for adults.  On the Away ships, its Le Bistro.
