Douro River Cruise - Single Traveler

Hi all,

Have any of you been on one of the many Duoro River cruises?  I'm looking for a good one.  So far have researched Vantage (terrible reviews) and Viking (no single supplement).  Any recommendations.  So far, I'm leaning toward Viking for obvious reasons.  Any assistance would be very helpful.  Thank you in advance.

Have a look at both Uniworld and Amawaterways. They often run single supplement specials. Uniworld will be sailing a new ship in 2020, and Ama introduced a new ship this year.

Tauck is new to river cruising in Portugal.  They have rooms for singles.  Never done a cruise with them but have taken land based tour with them and was highly impressed.

Until recently, river cruises in Portugal were a monopoly, so companies such as Uniworld and Ama had to lease ships from a Portugese company, similar to what's done in Russia.  That ban has been lifted, so this will be the first time cruise lines can own and operate their own ships.  I wouldn't solely rely on reviews from previous years.

Riviera travel has cabins for singles on most of their European cruises. Haven't check for the Doro though.

We are taking one of their cruises in October on the Danube.

My mom just booked with Avalon and they had several rooms that had no single supplement.

I did a solo on AMA a couple of years ago.  At that time, they had a reduction in the Single Supplement.  I don't remember what it was, but can say the cruise was very good.  I would sail with AMA again.

I sailed with AMA too (as a solo) and recommend them as well.
