Can I bring my own coffeemaker?????

I'm bringing the single-serving coffee maker. And if Carnival or the ATF, or the FBI or the Homeland Security people don't like it, they'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

Then 20/20 or 60 minutes will have something else to profile.

But seriously, how many curling irons make it aboard your average cruise ship? If there's 2,000 passengers, and half are women, and even half of those have hair, I'm counting 500 curling irons making it through security. And that's on the low end. My wife has specialty curling irons which she uses depending on the color of the shoes she's wearing. That behavior boosts the average cruise ship curling iron count to 837.72.

We took our foreman grill and a cooler with frozen meat (had to add ice twice daily to keep meat frozen) on the conquest in december-with power strip no problem

I find dry ice works much better.

A fun game to play is to plug everything in at once and see how long it takes to get someone to reset the breaker. No experience required and fun for the whole family. It can be played over and over.

Isn't part of the cruise experience spending time with pleasant strangers? A whole ship of folks enjoying their vacations. How many times have reviews contained rants and raves about the miserable, rude, uncouth passengers? Maybe all they needed was to start their day with a good cup of coffee. So if I bring a coffeemaker I am doing it for the benefit of my fellow travelers.

I will force myself to buy a cheap coffemaker, I will lug it on board and subject myself to the aroma and taste of FRESH brewed coffee on my balcony only because I do not want to be mentioned in any negative reviews. Please remember to thank me.

I agree completely...that is why for the safety and best interest of my fellow cruisers I have purchased a Cuisinart 4 cup coffee pot with stainless steel pot for traveling within the 50 states, canada and caribbean....Thank You Bed Bath and Beyond!!! :)

I might rethink my position here. I just might trudge down to the coffee shop, bleary-eyed and hair sticking straight up, in my bathrobe and fuzzy slippers, (unlit) cigarette hanging out of my mouth and demand coffee . . . .just so I can come back to this board and read about me in other people's reviews.:D

.... about electrical appliances ie. my hairdryer being taboo?? I cruised on the Legend 2 years ago and will be doing so once again in March. I brought along my hairdryer at that time and it wasn't confiscated -- nor did I expect it to be. The comments about the ship's electrical system make sense, though. hmmmmm .... should I or shouldn't I??

Whoever mentioned the coffee press ... thank you! I have one of those. Also, when I told my daughter about bringing along my favourite brand of coffee, she suggested that it might be a problem because people typically smuggle drugs in coffee grounds and we'll be flying in to Fort Lauderdale from Canada. Being rather naive, I didn't think of this -- my daughter is obviously more "worldly" than her mother. Any comments? (not about my naivety!! ;) )

I've been wondering just where exactly it states you can't bring certain appliances onto a Carnival ship because of electrical overload. I know there is a list of items not to bring aboard (candles, irons and heating pads) but I don't recall a reason being given beyond a chance of fire. I think it's easy to see how a fire might be started by those items, although I think Carnival might go a step further and ban smoking in the stateroom due to that danger as well. Nothing against smokers by the way (most of my friends do) just following a train of thought. I'm not saying the electrical excuse is not true I'm just curious where the information was read or if everyone is just repeating what possibly one person posted here at one time or another.

It is possible they use a different electrical system in the state rooms than other parts of the ship I suppose but looking at places like the Casino I find it hard to believe a state room outlet can't handle a curling iron or a hair dryer. As well, the systems for making coffee, tea and hot water up on Lido and elsewhere are far more power than your average four cup coffee maker and there seems to be no trouble with them. Like I said though I'm not convinced the electrical excuse is not true but I'm also not convinced it is.

So if there is anyone who is on the Liberty 2/12, if you bring the pot, I'll bring the coffee.

OH NO!! That's a different thread all together. Do a search on here and you'll see what happens to those who try to bring pot on board.

What is the coffee for, to mask the smell of the pot?

Although, I don't remember seeing pot on the do not pack list...

I wonder if it will blow the circuits...

I guess that's why they have the midnight buffet:eek:

Ahh, just realized my pot days never met my coffee days... That would have been an interesting combo... thank God my kids don't read this board.

  • 3 weeks later...
For all you husbands out there:

I will tell you about the best cup of coffee.... It is the one delivered to the cabin by the best husband in the world!... He is a early riser, gets up and goes to the Lido deck He gets me a cup of coffee and delivers it to our room, himself. We then enjoy that first cup together...out on our balcony! There is nothing better in the world!

Sue

Sounds like your husband is a sweet, smart and sexy guy!:D
