atb Posted September 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2019 DH has a back issue, and cannot walk the ramps. He is OK on flat areas, but the ramps put pressure on his back. Who do we need to talk to so we can embark on deck 1, instead of the ramp to deck 4. We don't need a wheel chair assist, just need to avoid the ramp. Thanks. cruisegirl1 Posted September 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2019 (edited) I’m sure if you speak to anyone at check they will be able to accommodate you. The ramp is very long. Staff at the port are super nice. M Edited September 2, 2019 by cruisegirl1
long4acruise Posted September 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2019 After leaving the terminal building (security, check-in, photo area), proceed straight to the end of walkway just before the ramp. There'll be security personnel stationed there and anyone with any physical challenges will be allowed to walk over directly to deck 1 of Grandeur and access the ship from there using the elevators. Enjoy your cruise!
atb Posted September 2, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted September 2, 2019 thank you for the quick responses. We love the port of Baltimore. Now to figure out what we're doing in Halifax. Talk about your steep ramp!
SRF Posted September 3, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Just say something at check in. We sailed with my Dad, who has back issues. He was using a walker, but they saw, offered a wheel chair, and we all boarded on Deck 1.

biomedbob Posted September 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2019 I don't remember (2 times) and issues leaving the Grandeur in Halifax. Ramp was at parking level height.
