My family will be visiting Palma on October 30. Odyssey of the Seas in port from 12-8 pm. We are thinking about renting bikes. My group will include kids and grandpa too but we all love to ride bicycles. Can you recommend a rental shop? I found at least one shop online that rents bikes for kids. We want an easy leisurely ride and no mountains.

Hi

Try :http://www.portbikemallorca.com/en/

They are right in the port and have bikes for children, there is a cycle lane all along the shore line for about 10 miles or you can explore the town .

Excellent thank you! I emailed them and got our bikes reserved. I think we will take the coastal route. Looks beautiful.

Your ship might Dock on the far west Quay then you would have  a long walk  to the pick up point, luck of the draw on this .see goggle map.

Hello

It doesn't have a shuttle but a regular Palma bus line (it belongs to Palma transport network)

This is its map

https://www.emtpalma.cat/es/linea/-/L/1/portopi-sindicat

It runs every 20 minutes on weekdays, 25 on weekends

Hi I can't understand how you know the ship does not provide a shuttle ???

 When it does :

We are getting to Palma Wednesday Nov 8 at 12 pm and leaving at 7 pm on Celebrity Constellation, it will be our first time here

Does the port provide shuttles to the downtown area , and are the markets open on Wednesday?

This answer is incorrect  Celebrity does provide a shuttle that will drop you opposite the cathedral, and from there you can walk to either of the markets.

http://www.mercatdesantacatalina.com/en/

Further to the answer  by Allrod to catch the bus you would have a long walk  to get to the bus stop ( Not easy  as the whole  place is a minefield  of road works)

HI Having lived for the last 20 years I think I know what's going on .

Celebrity  will be providing  a shuttle  most cruise  lines do ,

Personally  I would  get a taxi straight  to the market  as they close around  2pm

Hi The caves of Drach are possible from the port I think I have given details somewhere further back.

If you go in the peak months it will very crowded, try to find a tour company on the island that pick up from the port, you can go on the bus or hire a car which is the best option for me.

Come back to me if if you needed to know more

Hello! I was wondering if taxis are readily available at the port? Or even better is their a company recommended to prebook a taxi for a family of 5?

We'd like to go from the port to Puro Beach Palma or Balneario Illetas. (or is this not the best idea?) We are looking for a nice beach day- we are travelling with our teenage children...

Hi you will have no problem  getting  a taxi, you will need to  find one of the bigger ones.

If you have children the Balinerio  will be far better  as there is a safe sandy beach and Puro is off the rocks.

Very wise thinking :).  We have warned folks, for several years, not to rely on older posts (especially pre-COVID) as a certainty.  Things change, and when it comes to the cruise lines cut-backs have happened throughout the industry.

As to Mallorca, DW and I (very independent travelers) have made good use of the local bus system.  The last time we were on the island we took a local bus from town out to a beach (not far from the airport).  The island does have a decent bus system, so if all else fails, that can be your inexpensive back-up.  Unfortunately, single bus tickets do cost more for non-residents and vary from 2-5 Euros depending on the route.

Two different issues.  Living on the island certainly makes you an expert on the island.  But as to whether cruise ships are currently providing shuttle buses (between the port and the city) is a more complex issue.  Prior to COVID, quite a few cruise lines had shuttles with some lines providing them free and others charging a fee (often for unlimited full days use).  But in the past 2 years, some of the free shuttles have become pay shuttles.  And what used to be low cost paid shuttles have sometimes become overpriced shuttles ($25 per person is not uncommon).  These days, the status of shore-based shuttle service (in ports around the world) seems to change with phases of the moon.  As cruise lines keep looking for ways to both cut their costs and increase their revenue, port shuttles are a convenient target.

Hola,

My husband and I will be visiting in June through RCI. Upon our arrival at the cruise port, we're keen on exploring the city and possibly spending some time at a nearby beach. We've noticed that our cruise provides a transfer to Playa Nova for $50 per person for a roundtrip. However, we're curious about the cost of taking a taxi to allow us more flexibility to experience both the city and the Mediterranean beach. Any advice and information regarding taxi fares would be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi ,

100  dollars for 2  for a 20 min ride !! , it should not be more than 20 each way for a taxi or get the bus for  1.50 .

https://

You will be rushed to do the town and the beach if  you have never been to Palma which  is a fantastic  port stop .

I would spend  my time in the city .

Palma Nova beach will be very busy and not the best choice near the port.
