Thanks so much!  We see there are changing rooms/showers at the beach.  We are torn right now as it seems that you can only pre-book round-trip tickets in advance.  That makes out timeline tight.  do you know if there is an issue with booking a one-way ticket at the box office on the day of travel? We'd hate to miss out.

If you get to the station around 9 am you should have no problem, you can walk back to veiw the market as it just over the road before the train departs .

If you are unable to get the a ticket we switch to plan B ,get a taxi from the station to pt de Soller and come back on the train -- Simple!!

The caves are long trip , for 1 hour underground, good if you love caves not much else to see.

For me stick to the original plan!!

Roger B,

I've been reading so many of your posts with wonderful information! I'm hoping you can help me!

My husband and I will be on the NCL Dawn on 2 Nov from 8a-7pm. We'd like to use the bus system, rather than the train to get to Soller and Pt de Soller, with a stop in Valldemossa on the return trip to Palma.

I've tried to get info, but would like to nail down specific directions of where to catch the correct bus. I've looked into getting the bus line from the port on the way out, then taking to bus to Palma on our return trip, so we can tour the area there. Would you recommend this, or starting in Palma, then taking a bus from there. Also, do you recommend prepurchasing bus tickets online, or pay with a credit card at the bus?

We're really looking forward to our time in this area!  Hopefully, you can understand what I'm needing...a little confusing. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

 Hi ,

You will have plenty of time to make your plan work , Here are the details you need if you want to the whole trip by bus my only caveat is finding the bus stops( look on google maps to find it from the port :

(1) https://www.emtpalma.cat/en/route/-/L/1/portopi-sindicat

This should be where your ship docks this will take you to the Plaza d'Espaya and the central bus station . This is the west quay , but if it docks at the main terminal you will need :

https://moovitapp.com/index/en/public_transit-line-4-Mallorca-1923-775503-15996804-0

a short walk from the terminal behind the Porto Pi shopping center.

(2) https://www.tib.org/en/linies-i-horaris/autobus/-/linia/204

Will take you to Soller , get off explore town then get the tram to Pt de Soller.

(3)https://www.tib.org/en/linies-i-horaris/autobus/-/linia/203

Bus stop might be more difficult to find if you use  magnifier on the route on the page you will find it.

Hope all this makes sense ? you will have no problem getting tickets pay on bus you will need plenty of small change.

On last thing that might interest you on the 2nd November.

Roger B,

Thank you SO much! This is exactly what we'll do when we're docked here! Now, I feel confident, with your instructions, that we can successfully get around to see everything we hope to see! Have a wonderful day!

Hola Roger B!

First-time visitors to Palma De Mallorca. Nov 2 NCL Dawn 8am-7pm.

Two women, early 70's, adventuresome spirits, good walkers.

Without knowing our likes/dislikes, what are your recommendations for a 'must see/do' visit?

PS - Won't rent a car!

 Hi,

Well Well I am many things ,but this is the first time I have had to resort to mind reading (only kidding ).

If you read back through my suggestions you will find something that takes your fancy, you have a full day with plenty of time to do any plans that we come up with.

The places I think you should see are Valldemossa , Soller, and Palma,

Since it your first time in Mallorca  ,I think you should spend at least half a day in Palma.

Here is my idea  it is the train to Soller , tram to Pt de Soller and back to Palma look back and you will see how to do this I have given this plan to others .

any questions let me know ?

A perfect answer...  for now... including the mind-reading comment, lol!

So often I'm tempted to go further afield and, possibly, miss something great that could be right under my nose. However, Soller seems to be worth the trip, as does an optional stop in Valldemossa.

Excellent to have an experienced feedback on how to divide up the time. Thanks!

Come back to me when you need more, personally I would want a more relaxed visit with some time to take in the sights.

Palma is beautiful city and very walkable, the Cathedral is a must ,so have look at what I have written before and I can map out your day.

Has anyone used the downloadable app from Google Play for touring the palace in Palma? I have tickets for an unguided visit to the palace and on the ticket it says you can download the app for information regarding the palace for the tour. My question is: Are we able to download the app now and retain it on our phone until our visit? I would at least like to download it before leaving the US because I don't know if I will have cell service in Palma.

Thanks for any info.

Thanks. Do you have any experience or have you heard any input about how informative the app for the tour is?

Hi Roger,

Last year you provided advice for our day trip on Mallorca.  Absolutely loved visiting St. Elm!!  We want on to Deia and it was nice, as well.

We are headed back on October 11th and really looking forward to it.  Should we rent a car to visit Valldemossa and Soller?  Considering we have 10 hours in port are there any other sites we should stop at along the way?

Hi , Pleased things worked out last year, You have plenty of time  , yes I would hire a car it will give you the freedom to spend as much time as you want on your tour here are some places you could visit on your route .

     https://www.abc-mallorca.com/sa-granja-mallorca/

     https://www.lacasaderobertgraves.org/en/

     https://www.abc-mallorca.com/cala-deia/

     https://www.jardinesdealfabia.com/en/the-gardens/

The road from Valdermossa to Soller is spectacular You could drive to Port de Soller park the car and get the tram into Soller and return .

           Hope this Helps !!
