kgoetz Posted November 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2019 We are on a New Years cruise (12/28-1/4) on the Grandeur- right in the middle of some prime college and NFL games. How are those games shown? Only in the bars? At the pool? In your room? I'll have the VOOM stream package so can I reliably watch games on the laptop/iPad? TIA! bouhunter Posted November 13, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2019 There will be some games on at pool, bars, in room TV, etc. No way to know which ones.

SRF Posted November 13, 2019 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2019 Speed tests are showing more than enough speed for streaming. The big issue with the speed is the ping time. A web page may make 10s or 100s of requests for the next piece of data, and each one of these experiences the ping time. When streaming, one the data stream starts, the server just sends the data. If you don't get part of it, the picture freezes, until you are again receiving it. I have seen reported here on CC of streaming without major issues. alex_drew Posted November 14, 2019 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2019 We were on Grandeur 2 weeks ago. They, of course, had the Ravens game and two additional Sunday games, the Monday night and Thursday night NFL games at the Casino bar, at the pool on the big screen, and in our room. As bouhunter said, there is no way of knowing which Sunday games you'll get, but most likely (since it is a Baltimore sailing) you will get the Ravens. cruisegirl1 Posted November 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2019 We’ve been on a handful of New Year’s Eve cruises, and everyone has had college football bowl games shown on the big screen by the pools. m
kgoetz Posted November 14, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted November 14, 2019 GREAT information- thanks! While football viewing won't be a priority on the cruise, there are some big games the week we're gone. Thanks all!
LESLIEKURZ Posted November 14, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2019 As others have said, they play a game or two at the pool. There are also games on in the Schooner, the casino and in your room. We were able to stream very well up in the Viking Crown and it was completely empty on game day, so we put the sound up and watched on our tablet. Great bar service too with no other passengers. Helpful hint, if it's cold outside, you can watch the pool screen from the Viking too. No sound though. Hope you find what you're looking for. Go Birds!
