We took it in October, our Latitudes Rewards card in our cabin, had us contact the Rewards area, and it was scheduled for the next morning at 9AM, sea day. They check your ID, and have a security person accompany the tour. We have been on a variety of ship tours, and this was a great one. Laundry very interesting, hard to hear in the Culinary portion, as there were about 30 people, and the chefs were not very loud. The theatre portion very good. Was about 1 1/2 hours, lots of stairs.

Do they ever upon the tours up to non-platinum members for a fee?

Yes. The paid tour is longer and [used to] includes a photo in the galley. You book that tour through shore excursions for about $80.

For the platinum tour, allow for 2 hours in case there are a lot of questions.

I never understood why people think it's interesting to watch people doing laundry.

You are not watching people do laundry, what is interesting is to see every day, how many towels, napkins, pool towels, sheets, etc., that get washed everyday, and the mechanics of the logistics of how it is done. They machines that fold them,  and how many they can process in a minute or an hour. The automation of such a large task, by so few people, that is part of what is interesting.
