? about checking lower price

When checking to see if a previously booked cabin has dropped in price, do you have to check on the same deck or can any deck price be checked & applied if lower as long as it's the same room type, location & category?

Location and deck dont matter with rcl like some others. Your category is all the matters.

You have to check the same category.  It could be on a different deck.     If you check another category the price is usually different.  They price by category.  🍷

This is what we mean by 'category':

 

Not just balcony, for example, but 6D.  Not 2D or 4D.  Whatever you booked, you can only compare to the precise same category.

Not always. You have to be careful with this. Sometimes the deck you're on does matter.

It would be very unusual for that extra $78 be for the same category - it's likely a different one.

I see this all the time. It's the same category. Even mid-ship vs. aft or forward makes a difference, sometimes.

The same category of cabin is the same price regardless of deck. 

 

Midship and aft will be different categoeies. 

 

Heres Royals booking system.  You will notice that there are lots of balcony cabins.  It doesn’t differentiate between decks.

What they are doing is that when you select a different location or deck they are moving you to a different category.  You will still get a balcony (example) but it could be a 4D for a midship vs a 8D for a forward or aft or a 2D for a higher deck.
