Never been on Fred Olsen but it is a very sensible option to keep bookings and save on staff time processing refunds and passenger frustration in trying to get refunds.

Hello,

Indeed interesting. No doubt an attempt to save money in not having to spend a fortune employing people just to pay money back.

They will still have to refund the deposits though if the cruises are cancelled.  I agree with Eglesbrech that it "may encourage people to retain current bookings" though, but they do not get free loans either.  None the less a good customer service move IMO and gives a good feel about the company.  We are still waiting for refunds for two Fred cruises which would have already been completed mind and CMV not coming up with the voucher I requested two weeks ago.

Not much action from any cruise lines at present from what I can see, but we did get refund vouchers today for a couple of Travelodge bookings which we had made on a saver (non cancel fare) and have been able to re book one of them, though whether we will be able to travel in early October for that stay is anyone's guess at present
