I think so. I’ve used Lift and Shift to move my November one to same time next year. Price next year was £6,000 more than we had paid so glad of price guarantee.

Of itself, it does not! The opening paragraph of the order states as follows:

'The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today the extension of a No Sail Order for cruise ships through September 30, 2020. This order continues to suspend passenger operations on cruise ships with the capacity to carry at least 250 passengers in waters subject to U.S. jurisdiction.'

 

The order relates to relevant cruise ships only 'in waters subject to US jurisdiction.' If, for example, Europe opens up more fully to cruising once they see how Aida and Hurtigruten cruiselines fare in August then other cruiselines would be able to sail if they choose, including Azamara.....do I think this will happen, no but it's not because of the CDC order.

The bigger problem for the ships is not the CDC it is how they crew up with so many borders still closed and quarantine requirements in place.  

And given how many guests come from USA, they are currently not permitted into so much of the world and that will continue until they are on top of their outbreaks.

Vaccines are of course the solution but lets not be selfish, cruisers aren't the priority when they are first rolled out - it has to go to health workers and the most vulnerable and should not be accessed on the basis of the ability to pay imho. 

Add to that many ships head to south america for winter I think you should replace September for another month and the year is highly highly unlikely to be 2020.

The ability to pay may, unfortunately, also impact which countries can have first access to the vaccine(s). Although some researchers are committed to the exemplary policies of Doctors Salk, Banting, and Best, others will want to see an impressive ROI.

 

Unless there is a broad programme of reaching much of the population in a nation, then certain areas may remain unsuitable destinations. This might rule out early returns to  parts of South America and Africa.

 

As a corollary, this could also impact which staff members will be available as crew members.

 

It would be wonderful if there were an international agency that could help oversee and ensure distribution of vaccines.

 

Even an optimist such as I can’t see that happening.

Thanks for that. I am supposed to be sailing on 10 October. Realistically I cannot see this happening>
