Hi Everyone,

We are booked on Coral Princess sailing around South America from Santiago, Chile departing on 4th February 2021, as part of a tour of Argentina and Brazil. Our TA is requesting final payment on 20th October. Have just checked our Foreign Office advice re travel and it states that Chile has closed its border to all Nationals. Therefore this cruise will obviously be cancelled, and I would appreciate any advice as to what action we should take. Additionally, I see on the Princess website that UK nationals will be offered a FCC, but not sure if that is if we cancel the cruise.

Many thanks for any suggestions on how we should proceed..

First, I would wait until the 20th to see if Princess actually demands final payment.  If they do, then I feel it will be 50%/50% if that cruise actually happens.  You would need to be prepared to not see your final payment money for a while, if the cruise cancels.

We were scheduled to sail on the Coral for the South/America itinerary in Match 2021 and we cancelled our reservation last March because we were fairly certain that the cruise wouldn’t happen.  We had a refundable deposit which was returned to us approximately 60 days after we cancelled.  We were not interested in waiting for any perks that would be offered if we waited and let Princess cancel the cruise.  We continue to be very comfortable with this decision especially after seeing how poorly some of the South American countries (eg. Brazil) are handling the virus.

That is 107 days before the cruise.

Normal Princess requirement for final payment is 90 days before, so 107 allows for resolving any payment problems.

But, Princess worldwide is only requiring final payment 60 days in advance for cruises in the early part of 2021. Check with your TA to make sure you do not have to make final payment as early as 20th October.

Agree with caribill. If the ship sails final payment date is December 6th, 60 days prior to sailing, and not Oct 20th. Take a look at this web site: https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/

We have decided not to cruise in 2021. Suspect that the experience will not be what we have enjoyed in the past. You might want to think in these terms.
