Rare sparks1093 Posted January 25, 2022 #51 Share Posted January 25, 2022 Step granddaughter's mom took her in to apply around December 8th or so. Her passport was received yesterday, 1/24. We did not pay for expedited service.
Mike45LC Posted January 26, 2022 #52 Share Posted January 26, 2022 I applied for renewal on Jan 3 (overnight Express Mail to Philly). I paid to expedite, and I paid for Express Mail to return the new passport. Received today!! That's only three weeks (plus one day). Amazing job by the Passport Office!

cruizergal70 Posted January 26, 2022 #54 Share Posted January 26, 2022 For all those expediting, are you meeting the rules for expediting and traveling within days?

You are confusing getting an emergency passport versus paying to expedite the issuance of a passport. Anyone can pay the extra fee at application time to receive expedited processing, but to get an emergency passport (typically directly from the Passport office) one needs to travel within a certain time frame. Here's the chart from state.gov: Routine 8 to 11 weeks Expedited 5 to 7 weeks Expedited at Agency Must have international travel within 3 business days Limited Appointments Edited January 26, 2022 by sparks1093

Hi, nope.........you can pay an additional 60.00 for the "expedited process". That is for the 5-7 week time frame but it has been taking even quicker lately😃. Took me 3 weeks to get my new one back!
