First solo

Well, I got an incredible email deal and booked my first solo.  And it's Sunday!!!  I'm thrilled, scared, excited, nauseous, etc.

Gonna gather a few books for some serious deck time.  What do you as a solo traveler?

I've done a few solo now and have lots of books and also audio books.  If you haven't tried them before they are great!  I enjoy spending time in the spa and usually buy a thermal pass.  Past few times I've been in studio cabins with NCL and they are really good for getting to know some people and having a group to dine with, but on saying that one of the joys of being on your own is being able to eat when you want and if you don't want to do the whole dressing up for dinner go get a pizza and eat it in your cabin!  In the evenings I go to a show and often just wander around.  I'm not a night owl and so going to bed early when I want is also a luxury.  Best advice is not to stress about anything and just enjoy the time on your own.

Where are you going on Sunday?  I'm sailing on NCL Epic that day!

Congrats on the great deal😀 I have been sailing solo for 18 years. (It is the only way I sail). What do I do as a solo? Depends on the cruise......I sometimes participate in Trivia....(depends on how I feel).....sometimes I do nothing!.😀 If there are culinary  demos on board, I love attending them.🙂.  I go on excursions---yes, sometimes I go on ship tours, sometimes I go on independent ones.....sometimes I just walk around and that really depends on what port we are docked in......

I am very outgoing ....it is very easy for me to meet people and I love cruising solo.  Actually when it re-started in the last few months I went on 2 already and going again next week!!  July I went to Greece, last month I went to Alaska and next cruise is out of Lisbon!

I would recommend seeing if there is a roll call for your cruise. It is a nice way to meet others on the same sailing.👍

When I mentioned doing nothing? I actually mean, I find a lounger, with a book and a drink, read, nap, sip and repeat LOL........it is a wonderful time to basically relax and chill out.

Read. Read. Read some more. Hopefully you'll find some good spots to curl up and chill out. Bars during the daytime are a good spot for this! I'm not a very social person so I'm content to read, wander the ship, enjoy the sea air, watch the game shows and trivia, and otherwise just take it easy. Oh, and eat.

My next cruise is on a ship I've sailed before, so I know precisely where I'll be spending large chunks of time with a drink and my iPad. Can't wait!

I have had great times on my solo cruises. The best part is not having to coordinate a schedule with someone else. To combat loneliness, I try to participate in activities. I eat at shared tables in the dining room when possible. On my cruise last month, I went to dinner a couple of nights with new friends. I don't mind going to a show alone.

I have been on 3 solo cruises so far on carnival. Have 4 more solo cruises booked. I will be doing my first 8 day carribbean cruise on carnival freedom in December 2022 then my first back to back on carnival sunrise may 2023 and final a December 2023 7 day Mexican riveria cruise. I am now getting back into cruising since I enjoy cruising and relaxing and meeting new people. I having had a real vacation since December 2019. I have managed to save money to book all my cruises. After these cruises I will be trying to go at least once a year.

I've went on two solo cruises this summer.  During the day,  I mostly lounged by the pool and took naps.  I tried to read a book but ended up talking to people.  At night, I enjoyed the social life and a little casino.  I ate dinner in the buffet and dining rooms by myself. which I enjoyed because it was at my pace.   It was a relaxing two weeks.  I did not have to coordinate with anyone and the room temperature was perfect every day.

My first solo cruise isn't until December and I'm having the same feelings already. How did it go?!?
