We just received an email casino offer for friends and family on our next seven day cruise. Has anyone else ever received such an offer?

Could you expound? What is the offer? Can you bring other people for free or a fee?

I wish!

We just finished our first HAL cruise last week, left our 'donation' at the casino and now anxiously waiting for our first casino offer 😎

Hope get some offers. We never receive offers by e-mail. Most offers for us are found by searching all HAL cruises on their website and finding cruises with very reduced rates. Another way a to do a mock booking on a cruise you like, when you get to the third or forth page of the booking you will find the price drops. This is of course after you log in under the gamblers name.

Our offer for friends and family for an 11 night Panama cruise starts at $249 pp for interior plus fees, etc., Guessing they have had an increase in cancelations and kicked out this offer.

So is  that a cruise you are booked on now, or is it that price offered to you and any additional rooms you want to book?

OK thanks,

I think my approach to date with regards to spending(losiing) money in the casino in hopes of cheaper cruises is suboptimal. I would be better off just making friends in the Casino on my next cruise !!!  😜

I hear you!  Also,  would you know if you are allowed to take 2 bottles per person on the 11 night cruise?  I know the limit is one bottle on our other 7 nighters.  Did you sail on Eurodam?

HAL just changed wine rule - ALL wine brought onboard must pay $20 corkage fee.

Yes, the Eurodam. We didn't take any wine on board (since we had the package and are not picky) so can't say. I 'thought' it was the same regardless of length of cruise but again, we didn't use it.

Go around the last day of the cruise and glance over the slot players shoulders. You should be able to read the accumulated points for that cruise on their machine. When you find one up around 20,000 points, make a new friend. Done. By the way it won't be me because I don't play or my wife only gets around 1000 points.

Wow - I guess because they are pushing "have it all" ??

I think all the free drink promotions are a "cover" for the new beverage rules - no wine AND no soda allowed.  After awhile watch them drop the free drink promotions but leave the NO beverages being brought onboard in effect.

Take this however you want, but on our 4th day of cruising on a 22 day b2b out of Ft Lauderdale in the Caribbean this month, they ran out of Diet Coke, they did have Coke Light, but it's just not the same to me. So when we reached back to Ft Lauderdale, I decided to head to a nearby store and grab some diet coke so I didn't have to put up with it again, I grabbed 2 (6 pack 20 oz bottles) put them in my backpack and got back on the ship, nothing was ever said to me, and nobody was harmed in the process......

I'd like to know how they handle the wine going through security, do they have a special area once through to check and pay for the $20per bottle.  As far as your cokes getting through is not a good sign that security scanner did there job to miss 2 Six packs and they were bottles which have been on the prohibited list for a few years.  Did you go through the same line as the new passengers?

I had an In Transit pass for our B2B, so the backpack went through 2 scanners, one outside the ship and 1 on the ship, no one said a peep. I also brought the plastic bottles to lunch and dinner on Lido to put in a glass with ice, never heard a word, had no idea they were not allowed? I've also had bottles of water on three separate cruises this year, and nobody has said anything about that either.

Yes, right next to security/xray machines they have a table with HAL employees from the beverage team.

But I was just on the Koningsdam after Thanksgiving and brought one bottle of wine and the employee working the xray machine didn't say a word. I didn't pay. I also drank that wine in my room over the course of the week so I paid no corkage at all.

I was also able to bring on glass bottles of Mexican Coca Cola in Puerto Vallarta. The only thing that didn't make it on all week was the 4 bottles of tequila I bought. Totally understandable. Room stewards brought it to my room around dinner time the last night on board.

Hope this helps 🙂
