ToGoAroundTheWorld Posted January 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2022 During the cruise has anyone heard of or experienced how Celebrity handles a positive covid passenger? When departing from a Florida port - 1- Are they quarantined to a room until negative test or return to home port? 2- Are they removed from ship at next port to quarantine till negative test then fly home? Many of the Caribbean ports do not allow ships with a single covid case. This would make it advantageous for Celebrity to discharge passenger so it could continue without restrictions. As a passenger #2 is a very bad choice, you are set up in an undefined quarantine space and subject to that country's rules. Any input? The answer has transitioned from #2 to #1 with the advent of Omicron unless serious medical attention is required. And the sentence I quoted above is not at all true. Rare Jim_Iain Posted January 19, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2022 (edited) There have been a number of posts on this in the past week. You can find them by searching block under your name. Choose "This Topic" There was even a live post of someone that tested positive and was quarantined. Latest I have read are that they have a block of rooms for quarantined passengers and crew. The person tested positive is moved to a quarantine room for the remainder of the cruise. Once back at disembarkation if still not tested negative, celebrity reimburses up to a certain level for hotels and food until you can fly home. Read this thread and all your questions will be answered. Edited January 19, 2022 by Jim_Iain

"Cases" yes. But not because of a "single case" like OP alleged.

Thanks I do not know of any port were a single positive case is going to keep a ship from visiting there. Which porch do you think fit this category? JKHawaii Posted January 19, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2022 From my sailing last week, I believe the criteria is 1% of passengers & crew COVID postitive.
Rare cruisestitch Posted January 19, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2022 So on a ship like silhouette, sailing with 900 passengers in about 1200 crew, you would need more than 20 cases. Not one case.
sanger727 Posted January 19, 2022 #11 Share Posted January 19, 2022 Either way, discharging the person early doesn’t fix the issue. If 1% of passengers comes down with covid mid-voyage then they have exposed many more passengers and crew that could turn up positive any day. Ejecting them from the cruise doesn’t change that. The covid positives aren’t going to debark in the port either way, so it’s not the concern that the exist on the ship somewhere. It’s the concern that an outbreak is spreading among the currently asymptomatic crew and passengers that are mingling in the port.
