Can anyone who has called in to cancel for April, please provide some clarity on cancellation information?

A lot of us received the cancellation emails and there seems to be no clear thread on the options and interpretations. Is it only for cruises through April? For all cruises April and beyond? Only for 2022 cruises or all current booked cruises April 2022 and beyond? I can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere and have seen multiple confusing posts about what is actually taking place and what our options are for those will multiple cruises booked for April and beyond?  Please share your experiences and options given.

I just canceled an October 2022 casino rate cruise for a full refund.  I also have a January 2023 cruise that could have been canceled if I wished to do so.  I was also able to apply an FCC to my existing January booking.  It was supposed to be used for new bookings only.  The casino department was quite accommodating.

Got the same email multiple times.  Seemed pretty straightforward to me.  You can cancel any booking for a sailing that starts in April of 2022 going forward, so that would include any bookings into 2024. You have until 2/15 to cancel and you can get a full refund.  As of 2/16, normal cancellation penalties would be in effect.

Thanks, this is what I seem to have found from multiple sources now. This works out perfectly for me to clear the board since I have cruises booked into 2024. I read some conflicting posts over the weekend and didn't really have time to dig into it. I did read some reddit posts and youtube posts about people getting push back, while others had zero issues. Hopefully, that has been cleared up now that a few days have passed. I'd much rather not have to call as I have to cancel several with multiple cabins on each. Part of me wants to hold off and wait for an online option but it may not come. Going to have to play the hold game tomorrow I guess. Ugghhh.

The hold game sucks these days.  Waited over 2 hours on Saturday to get hung up on.  Got through today after about 50 minutes and the CSR gave me wrong information.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. Don't know why they didn't make this automated, like they did last time; they sure can take the money easily through automation. Seems ridiculous. Maybe that's the goal, make it barely functional & reduce the success/conversion rate.

I called last night, just 10 minutes on hold but an hour with the rep. She was able to cancel my cruise but not issue the refund. She chatted with a supervisor to issue the refund which took forever to get back to her with an OK. I understand they are extremely busy so no problem and we actually had a really long pleasant conversation.

Today, however I have not received the 2 emails I was told I would get...one for cancelling and one showing my refund.

I'm hoping the server is really backed up and they arrive today.  I would like the proof in writing.

So, does that mean you won’t get a refund after Feb.16, if you needed to cancel your Fall 2022 cruise in say May, prior to final payment? The normal cancellation penalties wouldn’t apply?

Thanks in advance.

Correct.

From what I gather, this is it for all cancellations, all cruises. You do it now (before February 15) or forever hold your peace or face normal cancellation fees. It's probably good for accounting in the long run as it will be a huge drop off initially, from cancellations, but will help stabilize things after February 15th. No more changing, no more OBC, no more FCC etc. You book, you cruise, unless the line cancels. I actually credit them for doing this. They are giving people a fair out and I'm sure it's going to hurt temporarily but it should instill some good faith in cruisers booked with them. It does for me and I appreciate it. I'd like to pay as I go until things get back to normal. This allows that option for everyone to untangle funds and start fresh.

Okay, thanks for the info. If we had to cancel our Oct. cruise for some reason in May 2022 prior to final payment, we would be assessed appropriate penalties if required, correct?

Correct. Now's your chance to cancel for any cruises going April on forward to 2024. They will firmly apply regular policies after February 15th. This gives everyone fair warning so if/when the next variant hits, people can't use that as an excuse for cancelling/changes. Everyone knows the score moving forward.

Finally got it. Thanks again!

My Cruise at the end of Feb may be lighter of those backing out. You know what? I am totally down for Carnival doing this. If the Pandemic were worse and this date was not set I along with many others would be. postponing the date.

I have more confidence in cruising! Carnival would not arbitrarily set a date if there was major problems.
