3 - 9PM Port Canaveral: anything possible?

Our 3/13 Anthem sailing was supposed to stop at Port Canaveral between 12-9PM. However, we just learned that the ship will leave later pushing the time at PC to 3-9PM. The original plan was to go to Kennedy Space Center but I believe that closes at 5PM? Can you leave the ship without a tour here with un-vaccinated children (I know you usually need a RC tour, but is that also true for domestic US)?

You do not need to prove vaccination status to visit sights or businesses in Florida, so a ship sponsored tour is not needed. Not very creative, but if the weather is nice, I’d probably walk over to Jetty Park and stroll along the beach.

those are spring break dates. The cocoa beach area will probably be busy. But there are lots of restaurants and a minature golf around cocoa beach.  Then head back to the port for dinner/drinks at one of the local places around there- Grills, Rustys, Fishlips.  Many of those have music in the evening.

I wouldn't recommend that...especially at night, and most especially with children, as the OP obviously has.  The route from the ship to Jetty park is very  busy with trucks and commercial port vehicles.  Take a taxi...yes...but not walk.

That is certainly worthy consideration, though sunset in Mid March is about 7:30 pm.

I have done the walk to jetty park many of times over the past year. It is perfectly safe to do as there is crosswalks, paved sidewalks and streetlights all of the way there.

Also nearby is Exploration Tower, though only two levels are currently open and they close at five o’clock.  But, no advance planning is required, so if the trip Jetty/beach is a no-go, you might amble over to the tower then perhaps take a look at the nearby restaurants.  As mentioned, you might catch some music there.
