Hope you're sawing wood by now.  FYI... wanted to let you know that from Beautiful Downtown Bowie, it looks like you are just crossing over the bridge tunnel now, at 2:20AM.

If you happen to pass table #206 and have your camera ready, would appreciate a pic.😉

I definitely would not have made it.  I knew it would be late.  We left an hour an a half later than usual and previously got there about after midnight

The wild mushroom soup is always a standout that I look forward to.  Looks like your prime rib could moo!:classic_ohmy:  Surprised that there was no Welcome show tonight.  They usually have one show to cover both sittings.  Rest well and let the motion of the ocean, or the bay, gently rock you sleep.

Thats how i like my steaks.  I have had steaks at Chops blue!  Thats actually a step below rare.

Good morning from 35.91855 North, 75.0946 West or somewhere off the coast of Kitty Hawk, NC.

For some reason, I didn’t sleep well last night.  I felt like I tossed around a lot.  maybe just a new place or something.  I came awake way too fast and found myself restless.  Fortunately, it was breakfast time.  My wife is still dead asleep, so i let her sleep.  Usually i inadvertently wake her up when i wake up, but i suspect i succeeded in letting her sleep in.

I noticed a little flaw with my coffee plan.

158DBF0B-A3C1-4683-8EEB-C7DA544E716D.thumb.jpeg.888ca0423e4e08f60af5570c1555dc60.jpeg

I usually drink about 2 cups a day.  At home, i make a bigger cup and have a method to do so with this aeropress.  However, I cannot use that method here.  I have to reset the aeropress to make a new cup which is easy.  The slight flaw is that i need to bring extra coffee with me.  How do i do that without bringing the entire canister with me to dinner.  Well, i figured out i could use the top part of the press to hold the coffee and just pour it in when ready.  Problem solved.

So after breakfast, i went back to the room and the wife is awake.  I went back out to get coffee for her.  Well, hot water from park cafe to brew another cup.  Reseting the press is easy.  1st, i realized with covid restrictions, they don’t allow you to serve yourself.  Not a problem. 2nd issue, the cups at Park Cafe have a narrower diameter where my aeropress is too wide 😩.  They are not the same as the MDR coffee cups.  Fortunately an attendant was able to grab me a MDR cup and wife just got a fresh cup of coffee.

I did miscalculate.  My wife said she drinks one cup of coffee/day and I had assumed 2 cups, so my math is off and i brought too much coffee.  At home, I make her a bigger cup of coffee, so my assumption was that with a smaller cup onboard, she would drink 2.  In theory, I should drink 3 as my cup at home is bigger.

Aah well.

The 12 night Enchantment itinerary  must be cursed.  They had a long range evacuation off the coast of FL in February for the same itinerary.  There’s a video, but its the site cruise critic hates.

Passenger demographic on those 12 day winter sailings is highly conducive for medical emergencies. 👵

This is only my observation, but from what i see, there’s a fair representation of ages here.  It doesn’t seem to skew that much older than other cruises I’ve been on.  My 15 night definitely skewed older but not this one.  On my 15 night, there were 100 people younger than 50 at the time

Sorry to hear about the evac.  Unfortunately, these 12 night cruises are prone to them.  Hope you have a small number and that you have already  done your quota.

Thanx for the pics!  That is exactly the table I want.  It was a 10 top in that spot on Grandeur but this 8 top will do just as well.:classic_biggrin:

Sorry that you did not sleep well.  Sometimes that happens to me and it takes a while to get used to the ship.  Hope tonight will be better.

When we last left our intrepid adventurer, I was navigating the inside of the ship trying to find a place to sit down.  The medical emergency closed about 1/2 the ships’s public areas do it felt more crowded even with this lowered capacity.  They closed Viking crown lounge, solarium, pool decks, outdoor jogging track on 5.  Not sure if Windjammer was closes.

We had a meet up with the site that can’t be mentioned here in the Spotlight lounge.  We originally had it in the Solarium, but that was

closed.  Unfortunately, there was a planned event for Diamond Plus and above so we were kicked out soon after we got there.  So that broke up.  We inadvertently ended at the name that tune trivial where I was mostly useless.

I decided to get a specialty coffee.  It was called a cold satin something.  Coffee, triple sec, malibu rum and butterscotch.  It was interesting.  Unfortunately, I’m a lightweight and that affected me.

Lunch in the MDR.

This was the “smoked” potato soup.  I had it on Brilliance and it was amazing.  This one, had no smoked flavor at all.  It wasn’t bad, just not smoked.

Lamb Pita.  It was ok.  The sauce you see is tzatziki sauce.  I thought there was a sour note to it and I didn’t like it.  My wife tried it and said its great.  She also said that’s how Tzatziki sauce is supposed to be.  Its made of cucumbers and i hate cucumbers.  Apparent the Tzatziki i’m used to at Cava isn’t real Yzatziki.

My wife got the butternut squash risotto.

And for dessert, Key Lime Pie.

My wife’s dessert is the royal chocolate cake.

By now, I’m really full as i wasn’t really hungry from dinner.  Ended back in the room and passed out.

Here are pictures of our room.  Its a “Spacious” Balcony.

This is also the first room i’ve ever had that they decided to put the plug as far away as possible from the bed.  The two room plugs are located next to the door of the balcony.  The extension cord they gave me does not reach the bed but my cord for my CPAP makes up for it.  My wife is usually on the right side of the bed but we switched.

Also.  This thermostat does not make sense.  Which way is colder?

Granted, I have an interior and not a balcony, but i’ve had balcony rooms before and the bathrooms were always as small as the interior rooms.

Please post some pictures of your interior cabin. I booked an interior on Enchantment for my 2023 cruise.

my bad.  I meant i have a balcony this time, not an interior.  However, i posted pictures of my interior room on Grandeur on previous live thread.  They should be the same.  That one was on deck 3.

After waking up fully from my nap, I set up a game in the Solarium.

Anyone who knows me knows I don’t play simple games.

My wife and I spent a couple hours figuring this game out.

End result of our first scenario, I ended up insane and she killed the bad guy and burned the house down.

It was a little slow going at first but we found our stride.

Tonight is our dinner at Chops.

Way too much alcohol for me.  Knocked me out for 12 hours.  I totally missed breakfast this morning.

Greetings from somewhere in the Atlantic.  Day 3 is another day at sea.  It is really nice out.   image.thumb.jpg.eb0e5960d996d908de5aad4641e100e4.jpg

As i said before, I had a really rough night.  And the morning wasn’t that much better.  I totally missed breakfast, but at least I have coffee, right.  So i go up to the windjammer to grab a cup and some hot water and what did i discover?  The cups in the windjammer are the same cups as they had at park cafe.  too narrow for my aeropress!!!

However, I ran into Maria, the head waitstaff and she promptly had cups and hot water sent to my room and it arrived in 10 minutes.

While waiting for the cups, my wife asks me where the funnels are.  I said i didn’t bring them because they’re for the coffee beans and since i grounded the coffee, I didn’t need them.  She says “you know they fit on the bottom to accommodate smaller cups.  😒  I never knew they did that.  Apparently she uses it that way at home and i never knew.

Now that i have hot water and good cups, I can make coffee, right…WRONG.  The universe conspires against me.  My bag of filters are missing!!!!  I now fear i may have left them at the MDR from breakfast yesterday.  My ever loving wife has a stopgap measure.  Royal provides a bunch of masks.  She tears one up and fits it into the filter cap AND it works!!!  So i grab my coffee canister to make coffee and behind the canister is… the filters.

So crisis averted.  I have coffee.

It looks as if someone with rough fingers used your thermostat too many times!  As I recall, moving it so the pointer is in the upper area will make it cooler; below is warmer.  Have you done some trials?

Which leads to my question for you:  Have you found the public areas of the ship a bit cooler than on past cruises?  We thought that was the case last month, and I believe it is due to the new ventilation system that was installed during her recent drydock.  My dentist had to do a similar system when the lockdowns began, and I can feel the difference there.

Thank you for the ongoing reports!

usually, there are colors on the thermostat.  But without them, i could tell.  I asked my room steward, Jean Carlo.  low number is cool.

I’ve felt it cooler, but i suspect it was the first day and the colder temperatures outside.  I noticed it on Grandeur as well back when i did my first solo in February.

It was mostly drafts of cold from the outside

As some of you know, my belief is that the one major flaw of all the cruises i’ve taken is that the coffee is bad across-the-board. Princess, Celebrity, Carnival and royal Caribbean are the same.

on my last cruise on the Brilliance, I may have perfected my experiment with the aeropress. So we have packed two of them as well as coffee. I am not willing to bring a grinder on board for fear of losing it. So I do the unthinkable. I have pre-ground my coffee. As any real coffee drinker can tell you, You’re supposed to grind your beans right before you brew it.  But because I can’t I have to pregrind it.

I am mathed this out.  Ideally my wife and I will drink 2 cups of coffee per day. Since today does not count, And the last day we can delay coffee as we are disembarking, I need supplies for 44 cups of coffee.

That’s a lot of coffee. This is in fact more than a pound of coffee I am bringing with us.

You will be thankful you brought that with you. I was. just on EOS. I normally drink one diet soda in the morning. Since I didn’t have a drink package on the cruise, I was drinking the coffee. Then I had horrible indigestion for 2 days. I then figured out it was from the coffee! It was awful!
