OBC--only letting me use in on excursions now. Can it be used on anything on the ship?

Apparently our casino rate did NOT include Princess Plus (tho I swear I checked that box...).

Guess I need to add a drink package, tips & wifi (we can share--at least we get half off with Platinum).

Will I be able to use the OBC to pay for these things once onboard?

Is the drink package cheaper to book before the cruise?

Your title asks about certain OBC being restricted to only be usable for excursions? I have exactly that same condition on some of our OBC for an upcoming Alaska trip. Unfortunately it will be useless for us as we don't do ship excursions. We'll have to forgo using it

OBC=on board credit

You can use it to pay for anything on board

That was my assumption. There are no conditions listed in the email or the invoice.

I'll wait to book the rest onboard.

Intersting

I have never seen obc designated specifically for only one thing

Before you are actually on board you can book excursions with your obc

Other things need to be paid for while actually on the ship

This specific OBC shows in our Personalizer as "Shore Excursion Credit" and I've been told that's all I can use it for.  I would love it if that was incorrect as we have no use for it, and I'll be checking once on board.  Unfortunately, I don't remember whether it was granted by Princess, or by our travel agent

There is a history behind the fact that OBC can now be used on Princess pre-cruise for excursions. Princess used to let you book excursions before the cruise and have them not show up as a charge until you boarded the ship. They stopped that and were confronted with many protests to that policy change. They compromised by allowing OBC to be used pre-cruise for excursions, and note excursions only.

We had that same credit on our last Connoisseur Cruise Tour in Alaska. You "may" be able to spend it in the gift shops at the lodges. I believe my wife did that with part of our "Shore Excursion Credit" but I'm not sure.

I had an ongoing battle to get obc as I wasnt able to produce a share certificate other than the original as I didnt get a statement last year due to no dividends. They wouldnt accept anything pre 2021 so I had to get a letter from Equiniti. Having sent that in they still refused saying it wasnt in my name ? It was clearly there but I have no idea what they were doing & in the end I asked them to escalate to a formal complaint. This was in Feb for a May cruise but they also added the obc to the Sept cruise. Thank goodness as I was dreading going through it all again. I think in the end I had sent 6 emails
