formal nights on Quatum OTS to Alaska

Recommended Posts

Alaska cruises tend to be less formal and the rules overall have been relaxed. We are going to Alaska next month and plan to wear relaxed clothing in the main dining room on formal night. IT's a mix of jeans and dresses. You'll find a similar style most of the cruise.

It's been a minute since we last cruised...are the formal nights still on the at sea days?  We are not interested in participating on formal nights, so I want to make sure we plan our dinners accordingly.

There is no need to "participate" in formal nights. You are on vacation. Dress as you please. There are a lot more people in shorts and polo shirts on formal nights than tuxes.

Polo shirt. Dockers/Jeans. Tennis shoes. Would be totally appropriate in the MDR on any ship on "formal" night or "dress your best" night. Hubby has not carried anything more than that in years.

We were just on the Quantum to Alaska last month and the attire was equally casual.  Specific to your question, Day 2 was "formal night" and Day 4 was "dress your best" with lobster in the MDR. If you want to skim through the Cruise compasses, menus, etc. go to my live post on the link below:

This is an example of "formal" night attire on our recent Wonder of the Seas voyage.

You can use the Royal app to see when at least one of the "dress your best" nights will be...assuming that they serve lobster tails that night.  Look under restaurants, MDR, menus and then look at the dinner menus for different nights.  Lobster tail is an entree on day 6 for our sailing, so that's almost certainly one of the formal nights.  That's a sea day.

Thank you for the information.  Last time I checked, nothing was posted for our sailing, but it is now.
