What percentage of World Cruise passengers do the whole 100+ day voyage on the Island Princess?

I have looked closely at the Island Princess and wondered how many of the passengers on the ship do the whole 111 days? With Princess selling segments of the World Cruise, it got me wondering how many were in for the whole thing vs partial. Defiantly a bucket list trip for us. If we boarded in Long Beach how many of you would stay on for the whole trip? Lastly what segment or segments were your favorite?

The Island has 2 pick up points.  You can start the world cruise from Fort Lauderdale or San Pedro (not Long Beach).  I have a friend who is doing all 111 days as a solo.  Barring any emergencies, she will do the entire cruise.  I had thought about joining her for part of the cruise but you have to do one or more of the 2 segments.  Each segment runs thirty something to 54 days.  I was hoping more for a week or two.  

 

She did say that the Island will be making port stops in smaller cities (cost?) and unusual stops.

Looks like you could take shorter segments of the cruise and get off in Sydney or Dubai.

I imagine most of them.  You can do LA to FLL as 97 nights and skip the Panama Canal segment.  You can book the two Panama Canal segments (14 nights).  Then sometimes, they have other segments where the trip breaks up like from Sydney or Dubai (I see in 2024).  But they don't necessarily sell the whole trip in pieces (or they may add something later if cabins are open???). 

 

I see for 2024, you can do LA-SYD, SYD-DXB, LA-DXB, FCO-FLL.  So, there is a gap between Dubai and Rome that is not covered by any offered segments.

Up to this point the Island P  has not done a world cruise,  The last similar voyage was on the Pacific Princess which only had around 30% of the passenger count vs the 2,200 on the Island.  The expanded passenger count gives a lot more opportunity for those doing segments.

 

The 2023 voyage has a very active roll call most of whom are doing the full voyage.

 

Several other cruise lines sold out their world cruises on day one of availability for 2023 - they mostly are using smaller ships.  There is a lot of bent up demand for next year due to a few years of cancellation for these voyages

This is the world cruise my friend is on.  When I checked, there were only 3 segments available for 2023.  55 days, 26 days, and 42 days.  I would have gladly joined her if I could have done part of a segment (14-21 days).  I may not be reading this right.  

Segment one:  LA to Australia

Segment two:  Australia to Dubai

Segment three:  Dubai to Los Angeles

(It looks like I could join the ship in FLL to LA).  But that is the only partial segment I could see.  I will admit that I did not do very in depth research since my schedule had too many conflicts.  

 

I am also not sure I could share the cost of her cabin for just one part.

We originally booked the 97 day from LA to FL but added the missing segment from FLL to LA later (in a different cabin) since we live in FL - so in for the whole thing.  There is a world cruise thread - roll call - you might ask your question there.

That's too long for me on any ship. On Island Princess it's even "more too long". Yes, I know that doesn't actually make sense but I'm guessing folks will know what I mean. If I was to sail a Princess ship for such a long trip Island Princess would be my last choice. (I've never sailed Diamond Princess but, since it doesn't' have an IC it would likely be my second to last choice.)

Totally agree with you.  The Pacific Princess and Coral Princess were excellent world cruise vessels.

You can do a WC on the Coral from Sydney.  Long flights from N.A., though.

Yep, and the Coral has a small IC, but quaint.

It was tucked in next to the casino, after her refurbishment.
