Verandah “fully obstructed” pricing

I called HAL and booked category VH guarantee on the Zuiderdam, was told it’s fully obstructed but this merely meant a steel balcony wall (not plexiglass).  I was pleasantly surprised that the cruise fare was about $80 lower than what showed on the HAL website.  Later on I noticed the website showed that exact price for oceanview.  It seemed too much of a coincidence especially since it’s an unusual dollar amount ($466).  I was wondering if anyone had anything similar happen.

If you booked a VH guarantee there are only four, far forward on deck 4.  You will probably be upgraded but maybe still with the steel partially obstructed balcony.  Look at the deck plans online.  Maybe they were doing a promo of some type.  Don’t know why @PROCRUISE thinks you should move to a window cabin.  A balcony would be my choice if the price was the same,

So your concern is that you have been given an Oceanview cabin and not the VH obstructed verandah cabin that you booked, because the price is the same?

You booked directly with HAL, so just look at the Booking Confirmation that you received by email  (pdf attachment to the confirmation email) and it will show the 'Stateroom Category' that you have booked on page 1.  It should state VH Guarantee.

I have booked a VH Guarantee and my Booking confirmation reflects this.  OP, check your Booking Confirmation as @VMax1700 suggests and save yourself a phone call.  Also, when I book a guarantee I fully expect this is the category I will most likely receive.  I have no hopes of an upgrade.  And, I DO realize the downside of the VH's, but in my case it is a 16 day casino cruise and I am happy to have ANY balcony.

8am Eastern is 5am in Seattle, I think they'd be getting a recording...

ETA: Also I'd be much happier in an obstructed or "cove" balcony than any "window cabin" (OV), especially in the age of COVID.

You actually will get a HAL representative in Seattle when calling at 8AM EST. I've done it a number of times, with only a 5 minute wait!
