CCL On Board Credit for shareholders of Carnival Corp.

Has anyone had the experience of being given OBC as a shareholder and then have it removed from statement? We went on HA in Oct. and we were told that we should receive OBC from the cruise line AND as a shareholder.  I sent the necessary documents for additional OBC. After hours of phone calls and research I was told that it was not applied as they had already given OBC. (Which everyone got. My cousin and his wife went with us and they BOTH got the credit?)

Also has anyone heard that this benefit is being discontinued?

If the offer you booked included OBC, sometimes it is not combinable with shareholder OBC.  Better to ask on one of the Carnival boards, HAL, Princess, Carnival…EM

As @Essiesmom, some special pricing or OBC don't allow combining with other OBCs. The stockholder's OBC has not been discontinued.

As of our Princess cruise of October 22, we had a small amount of OBC just or booking, military OBC, and shareholder OBC. We were able to use all of it and have always been able to combine OBCs.

 

But as Essie's Mom said, yours may have been a case where it wasn't allowed.

As for your last question of whether it will be discontinued, the Carnival Board of Directors routinely approve it. In fact, the last time they did make one change, they approved it for 2 years instead of 1. It is a marketing tool that costs them very little so there is really no advantage to them to not extend it.

I lost the stockholder credit on my invoice when I had a cruise repriced.  The HAL agent told me that the stockholder group had to put it back.  I wrote to them, and they did put it back on an updated invoice the next day.

And why should it be? It is a marketing tool that costs them practically nothing. During the Covid shutdown there was all kinds of speculation on these boards that it would cease or maybe they would require more shares to become eligible. Instead, not only did the Carnival Corporation board renew it, but they renewed it for 2 years instead of the usual 1 year at a time.
