Port Canaveral Arrival Times

I will be on the Meraviglia out of PC,  Do the workers at the port pay attention to the arrival times on the boarding pass?  Or are they like Carnival they don't care they let everyone and their mothers in no matter what time your check in time is

I’ll let you know on Sunday when I attempt to board around 11 with a boarding time of 2PM.  I’m sure it won’t be a problem as miss m has been sailing less than half full lately…

They do not care about printed boarding times.  For this Sunday's sailing there will be just over 2,000 on the ship, so well under 1/2 capacity. The goal is to get everyone onboard as quickly and safely as possible.

Wow, why are they sailing at such low capacity?  Other cruise lines are at full capacity.

I am sailing on Meraviglia this Sunday from PC. First time on MSC. Is that the cruise you are referring to with half capacity? If so, should be boarding rapidly.

I've been on 3 MSC cruises since they implemented boarding time slots and I've yet to encounter anyone asking to see the document that lists the assigned boarding time.

As I've stated on here before, "just get there when you get there".

How did you find out capacity of this sailing? I'll be on the sailing right after this one and would be interested in knowing.

We sailed Mera out of PC for Thanksgiving, 20-27 Nov. They do not check your boarding times. We got to the port at 10 am and it was crowded already. Full ship with 4,600 passengers on this sailing (note: YC Director said it was considered full because they have decks 10 & 11 blocked off for COVID quarantine use).  Took us a total of 1 hour to get on board, but that was from unloading our luggage, me parking the SUV and walking back, then getting escorted up to the YC boarding area in the terminal (they changed our cabin, so check-in took a little longer), then finally on board.

We are thinking of booking for Feb. 19 on Mera and would love a half full ship. Is it half full for all 11 days or just the 4 day segment and then it fills up with the 7 day segment? That is Presidents Day weekend too, will that make the 4 day segment full?

I'm skeptical about the half full claim. I did many fake bookings and checked many decks for open bookings in various cabins. It appears the ship will not be full, but nowhere near half full. My best guess is about 80% booked. Just my observations, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I don't think you can rely on looking at available cabins on deck plans to determine how full the ship is. Many people booking an MSC cruise choose the Bella category because that is the cheapest. In that category you don't get to make a cabin selection; the cruise line will assign one to you closer to the sailing date. So for example, there could be 200 cabins booked in the Bella category that will be assigned later but not showing as occupied on the deck plans. In other words, there are more cabins booked than what shows.

The Dec 11th Mera sailing is going to be just about 2000 pax.  They have blocked cabins.

I'll assume that "blocked cabins" means all the cabins are not being used or obtainable? If that is so, not good for MSC but certainly will be less crowded for me. Thanks for the reply.

For the December 11 cruise, Decks 11 and 12 show the midship Aurea Experience staterooms as "blank" with no number. That is different than already booked and unavailable. Are these blocked off for quarantine use?
