After having two Joy cruises cancelled during the shutdown, we will finally be onboard in April.  It looks like a lovely ship!   Thanks for offering to share information with us.

Please let us know if you eat at The Local and if the food is good.   We usually enjoy this venue on most ships, but some ships are better than others.  Have enjoyed the Reuben sandwich and some really good burgers.  (Nice change from MDR or Specialty dining.)   In Prima's Local, there were complimentary Hot Fudge Sundaes on the menu, but I haven't heard of that elsewhere.  (Breakaway had a $5 charge.)

Also, if you happen to spend anytime in the Casino, could you let us know the name or names of the Casino Hosts?  (We usually know them from prior cruises.)     And if you are a casino player, do they have a good selection of updated machines?

Hope you have a wonderful cruise😎

We have eaten at the local a couple of times and both of us feel like it is better than on most ships. We have gotten great service and hot food.  I especially like that the English muffins are warm when you get them at the local in the morning because they are usually cold in the dining room. I did not notice if they had the hot fudge sundaes. I will check the next time I go.

can you post the dailies?  I know the itinerary will change before we board (in 40), but it would be good to see what the CD does.

How is the food in the MDRs?  Are the lines controlled, or is it a cluster?

Any chance you go to the art auction?  How is the auctioneer?

enjoy your sail!!

Thank the last one I went to I was 18 lol, traveling with my parents. Now at almost 44, our friend who is 41 would like to go...his first cruise told him he will meet people everythwere.

The lines at dinner have not been bad at all but we made a reservation in advance so they usually let us write in. If you are dining in a main dining room you can make a reservation and they will let you in the restaurant before other people waiting in line

Also,

Our group is looking for a place to regularly meet up in the buffet area. The most logical place for this group would be near the ice cream. 🙂 Can you tell me where they usually have the ice cream located?

There are multiple ice cream stations on the Joy. One is on Starboard side in the middle of the Garden Cafe, and the other is on Port side near the Indian food station toward the front of the Garden Cafe.

If you are platinum or above, can you tell where which restaurants the dining vouchers are good for.

NCL now allows the Latitudes coupon to be used in almost all restaurants!

Here's the link for Latitudes' T&C's

https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program

(However take note especially of 6 that I added below!)

6 Benefit is available on sailings 5 days or longer, and entitles each guest to an appetizer, one entrée and dessert of choice. Upcharges apply to certain premium menu items; Raw Bar Seafood Platter is not included. Bottle of Wine offered in all venues offering Complimentary Wine list, Palomar not included. In à la carte restaurants, coupon can be redeemed for 4 menu items per person (Sushi, Wasabi, Nama, Teppanyaki, Hasuki, Food Republic, Pincho Tapas Bar or Raw Bar). Additional entrées will incur supplemental charges. Dinner coupons are non-transferrable. Solo guests cannot claim two dinners. Coupons can’t be used for the same venue twice. 2 guests maximum. Dining options vary by ship.

Thank you for this offer!

Some reports have said you don't have to make reservations for the shows, that it is first come first enter. Is this so? I've also heard that you do need to make reservations for everything.

You have to make reservations for the main shows but the other shows you do not. The theater has been very crowded so I recommend you make reservations for the ones you can and arrive early for the ones you can’t

I was on the Joy in October.  The Local is good for 2:00 AM food when you're drunk 🙂  Seriously, not my favorite venue on any ship but it's something edible when there isn't anything else available.

I have been to the casino several times. I do not think they have a good selection of Games. The last two cruises I went on where the prima and the Bliss in October and November and both of those casinos had a lot of much better games

I had an EXCELLENT burger at The Local when I was on the Joy last year, one that I'd be paying $20 or so for at local restaurants at home.

If you are planning to go during a regular meal time I would suggest going early it has been very crowded and hard to find a table

Thank you so much. Did the wall units work for making reservations, or the ap, or do you have to go to a box office?

Are you in the Haven? Do you have the premium plus drink upgrade? My questions pertain to those two things.

We figured out on our last two cruises that it’s cheaper for us not to do the premium plus. We just do the upgrade charge. I am a vodka drinker and on this ship they do not have absolute Alyx, Saint Germaine and some other things I like at any of the bars.  I have only been able to get Lemonchello at two of the bars the others do not have it.  My husband has not been able to get Blantons, Flora de cana  12 yr or Terra to name a few.  We are not big wine drinkers so it is much cheaper for us to pay the up charge.  It’s really frustrating if you pay for premium plus and you can’t get the drinks that you like.

As soon as you get on the ship go to Teppanyaki for dinner reservations and the social for Entertainment. We were in and out in 10 minutes.

That's the one!

I'll be on the Escape in 46 days, I'll probably do lunch at O'Sheehan's (same venue) a couple times.

I am upgrading internet package to unlimited. Can you text and make wifi calls with that speed or do I have to upgrade to premium? I really won’t be streaming Netflix not sure i need to purchase premium to keep in touch with home and post pics and videos on Facebook.

I do Not believe you can make Wi-Fi calls with unlimited I believe you will have to upgrade to premium. Maybe someone else will know the answer to this question
