We booked an RCL cruise with a refundable deposit and have changed our minds.  We are outside of any financial penalty dates.  If we cancel it and choose a different one do we incur a change fee?

No.

You can also cancel and get a 100% refund.

I just did this not too long ago. I asked  to keep the same booking number. The $100 p/p penalty was applied towards my deposit of $500 bringing the total deposit paid on the new cruise to $700

The op says he booked refundable.

You don't change cruises with your deposit.

You cancel, they credit you a refund for you deposit and/or payments.

Then you just do a new booking on something else.

If you know a different date it's actually easier just having them change the ship and sail date. Then you aren't waiting for your deposit to be refunded

Yes, you definitely can simply move your deposit to a new booking.    We have done several times, easy peasy!   Most times we have kept the same booking # too

I go throught the TA so it's done this way.

I don't' need to have the refund before booking voyage.

Just as long as I get it back at some point

Thanks for all the replies.  I had considered just booking a new cruise and cancelling the current booking as 2 separate operations. Since you have to cancel over the phone I figured if I had to be on hold for a long while (based on previous personal experience) I would do both operations at the same time.  Hence the question of a possible additional fee.

For us, it is easier to just to change the existing reservation. All of the current information just carries forward. We have done this a lot (.... there is always a "better" cruise on a "better" date... so says the significant other) 🙂
