Lynniepoo Posted February 11, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2023 Hey y'all, we are booked on a round trip Southampton trip in August that will stop in LeHavre, France the day before disembarkation day. We plan to disembark 1 day early to (1) tour Normandy and (2) take the train to Paris and stay there for a day or two. We tried to book the ship's excursion to Normandy but they will not allow it since we are disembarking. Does anyone have recommendations for good tour guides that will take us there and back to LeHavre, or even better, that will take us to Normandy and then provide transport to Paris? Viewing US memorials is our interest (vs. Canada) although we are interested in all of them. Thanks!
CruiserBruce Posted February 11, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2023 Overlord Tours is mentioned regularly on the France board, where LeHavre is: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/462-france-ports/ Great operation...but I seriously doubt they will provide transport to Paris, given the distance involved. For more tour vendor options and transport, look on the France board.

John Bull Posted February 11, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2023 Check with Overlord double-quick, though a couple of other tour operators have also been mentioned by Cruise Critic members. Do check whether they have room for your bags or find luggage storage in Le Havre. As Bruce has said, they won't take you to Paris but perhaps they can suggest a transfer operator. Or there's a direct train service from Le Havre to Paris, takes two hours. And you might be able to blag a lift to the station from Overlord or whoever. If all else fails, rent a car & plan our own tour. Divided highway most of the way, no city driving, sights have easy parking, plenty of signage & literature and helpful staff. skyking Posted February 19, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2023 If you are still looking we used Normandy Heritage Tours in June and it was AMAZING. Christophe is awesome and we did so much in such a short period of time. We were on the Anthem and we did a 8 hour tour with him and then back to the ship. https://www.normandy-heritage-tours.com
