Are 20s the largest bills that I should take or will 50s be accepted?

it is always better to bring smaller bills, makes it easier to get change if needed when doing a purchase.

 

i always bring 20 and less. if i have big bills i exchange it to smaller bills onboard the ship

$5, $10s.  Because you will at times get change in their money.  And it isn't always accurate.  Just happened to us in Curacao at a gas station.  We did check the exchange rate and they shorted us.  They did make it right when we showed them.  They didn't expect a cruise person to 1. have an international plan and 2.  call them on their BS.

Depends on what you are buying.  small bills for small purchases, larger bills for larger purchases.

The issue may be that you may get island money in change rather than US currency if they don't have enough $s .
